It turns out that John Cena wasn’t hurt as much as doctors originally expected. When doctors examined him, they found only a partial tear triceps. This was known when WWE announced Cena’s original recovery time.

There was talk of Cena still staying out of action until January but with WWE’s thin roster, the decision was made to bring him back. WWE officials knew Cena would be returning 4 or 5 days ago but didn’t decide on the match against Alberto Del Rio until this past weekend.

As of Monday, the plan is for Cena vs. Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title to be a regular singles match, not a Hell In a Cell match.

I still find it odd that he is not getting involved in the HHH storyline. Something tells WWE has something better for cena for WM Hmmmmmmmmmm (and no not the WHC. Thats only a temperary thing for him)

It's all gonna catch up with him, he'll be in torment broken down in his 50's.
Cena is going to be forced to retire like Austin & Edge had to. U watch I say in about 2 years cena will be forced out unless he starts giving himself more time off

We'll see how much he feels it was worth sacrificing his health for the company when he's in constant daily pain from refusing to take time off when told to and then refusing to retire when told to (this will happen in a few years) and the WWE doesn't really care about him anymore

You guys say this, but Austin and Edge lived through a grueling era in professional wrestling. How many times has Cena just got promos and maybe just took a bump? And when he does Wrestle, we all know Cena only has like 5 moves. Cena does not put that much pressure on his body. He will be with the company forever.

This is something people don't realise about Cena. He's wrapped up in cotton wool most of the time, even in matches. How often do you see Cena doing a high risk spot? He does a legdrop from the top rope, his only aerial move.

Saying that though, when you think of all the thrilling matches Cena has had (against the likes of HBK/Lesnar/Punk etc.), the fact that he still manages to put on a great match whilst being so limited in the ring really is extraordinary and is something that people should praise him more for.

Can this guy be injured for the amount of time people say he will be injured?

They did it at 2007 as well.

Yea give him credit for something that anyone with a few years of training in professional wrestling can do.

Give him credit for having the allotted time to do those matches.

Cena really does seem to heal from injuries very quickly, he always seems to return earlier than expected.

The fact that he does not do many moves off the top rope does not mean he has not taken plenty of bumps over the years. He's been active for just over a decade and Cena's been in plenty of demanding and risky gimmick matches and been full time for the vast majority of his run with very little time off. He must be pretty banged up. He might not have taken as many insane bumps as Edge or Foley or had a serious career restricting injury like Austin and Angle did but his body will have been through a lot in his career. All of that will take a toll on his body.

We have many debut's recently but with WWE's "thin roster" WTF?

Cena leaves for almost 2 months and suddenly the roster is thin.
The roster is thinner than it used to be in terms of the quality of performers. Punk has commented on this on why he came back quick in 2011 after MITB and it is the same now.
