Ummm I guess he just catches it.
the throw is looped so the can gets alot of airtime and SCSA just needs to swipe it to grab it. It does go wrong quite a few times on youtube video's you see him drop one, miss one, get hit by one etc...
Mania 21 he drops about 5 cans. Also opening a can with 1 hand is easy. Holding from the top your index finger and thumb hold 1 half your pinky and 3rd finger hold the other and you lift the tab with your middle finger.

I noticed it too, he was catching cans with his hands full last week, that were getting launched from pretty far away. he has pretty good hands.

From 98'ish to 2003... over 200 shows a year... catching beers almost every time... approximately 1000 times in 5 years... I think he's had a lot of practice lol.
