Re: Are we going to ignore snuka's past?

He killed someone. He's a piece of shit. Murder is murder. I'm disappointed in his family and the WWE for giving him a tribute. Very sickening
Do you go on football forums and demand that people never say anything positive about OJ Simpson, even if It's only referring to his football career and nothing else? The fact is that a lot of people have fond memories of Snuka as a wrestler and there is nothing wrong with that or with expressing sympathy for his family.

No-one is ignoring it but it doesn't really matter imo. also, lol at many people saying "oh i have no sympathy for him" like if he fucking cares or wants your shitty sympathy. The man is dead so WWE and the fans are honoring his wrestling career, that's it.

Re: Are we going to ignore snuka's past?

Yes you totally can wtf is wrong with you? Killing kids is worse than adults pretty much EVERYWHERE in the world.
So what you're basically saying is that if someone, for example(at the risk of being morbid here), killed a close relative of yours and his defense in court would be "hey! At least I didn't kill any kids", that should lessen the crime(and sentence) then? :lol

Don't get me wrong....I get it. Kids getting killed is obviously more heinous but it still doesn't make murder of adults, in general, any less of a crime.

Anyways, on to logical discussion...

I think the WWE did that tribute because it would be a bad look for corporate to condemn someone for murder when the courts haven't.
Yes. Logical discussion....for those that have the same OPINION you have, I suppose.

Sorry for intruding, I guess. :shrug

(but I'm adding to that discussion regardless : WWE was only focusing on his career as SUPERFLY. Not Jim Snuka or whatever his name is. That said, smoke plus fire....)

Re: Are we going to ignore snuka's past?

Clearly you don't if you've never heard people say child murder is worse than regular murder.
I doubt someone who had lost a loved one(father/mother/uncle) to a murderer would be saying to themselves "well...at least it wasn't a kid who died...Whew! Thank god for that."

But whatever....we're veering off the subject matter here.

To answer the OP's question : No. We should NOT ignore his past but at the same time, separate the PERFORMER(CHARACTER) from the actual person.

What are you babbling about? This makes no sense, I'm not speaking from the perspective of a family member of a murdered person, so your whole point is irrelevant here.

It's not that I'm saying killing people is cool. But I feel like the OP is only asking about Snuka because of the Benoit thread the other day. But I feel their cases are different which is what I tried to explain in my initial post. The reason I put child murder as worse than murder of a spouse is simple.

While I think both are wrong, I can at least semi wrap my head around crimes of passion, a drunken argument going to far, or even just typical you're a shitty person who abuses your partner. But child murder is different. I can't wrap my head around how that situation happens, unless it's some bizarre accident. As murderers go Benoit is on a different level than Snuka. Then add in that Benoit is going to be more known to this generation of fans, so him being treated worse makes sense

Ignore it? The entire thread where his death was announced is literally nothing but back-and-forth debate about it.
http://www.wrestlingforum.com/general-wwe/2104617-jimmy-superfly-snuka-passed-away.html

I realize he just passed away but unless I am mistaken, did he not kill his girlfriend back in the day? Was he not in the process of going to court again?
Who exactly are you referring to as "We" because Razza there said the answer to your question was a plain and obvious NO.. However if you're also referring to WWE that is a slightly different twist because they sure did. I'm not passing judgment on them one way or another but it does seem a little unfair that Benoit and Hogan get.. Benoited and Snuka doesn't. But as also has been said it's not been proven in a court of law and that's how justice works here, for better or for worse.

It does leave me quite torn between feelings that's for sure.

My point was not irrelevant because you weren't all that clear in your initial post. Just consider that not everyone reads a thread on Chris Benoit in these forums and until you mentioned it, I had no clue there was even a thread on that(nor would I have cared to visit it if I did know).

And judging by some of the other posts here, there are some that were of the same mind. :shrug

Was gonna say the same thing lol. Either OP didn't read the other thread, or just chose to ignore it.

Why not ? People have been ignoring this so called murder for years. I didn't hear about it until a few years ago. No one knows what happen. NO ONE! But him and her.

There's a thread filled to the brim with L's on this same page & even a Rant about this that somehow included Michael F'N Jackson. If that's what constitutes being"ignored" then yes, it is.

Star studded tribute by the E btw :frank3

I started to read the thread but the first page of posts were people offering condolences. After seeing that, I just didn't want to continue reading. Starting this thread answers my question and brings the discussion outside of a condolence thread.

He's dead. So yes, there's no point in dwelling on what he may or may not have done while he was alive. I have much better things to focus my attention on; but if that's all you've got to do, then by all means knock yourselves out. Jesus H, I don't think even Saddam got this much attention when he croaked.
