Before judging and saying that this is insensitive, I had no problem with thinking they were just going to give him an award at the HOF ceremony. That would have been nice and considerate, especially after the kid died of cancer. That kind of shit is something no one should have to go through, especially when they're a kid.

However, I've been reading in places that they are actually going to put him in the HOF. Now, although that seems fine on the surface, the Hall Of Fame is for wrestlers and managers who have contributed to business. And no matter what happened, Connor didn't actually contribute to the business as a whole. I wouldn't even have a problem with putting guys like Charles Robinson in the HOF because they were actively a part of the business. I mean, I even get pissed off when random celebrities get inductions. I understand Donald Trump because his arenas hosted early Wrestlemanias and he's appeared on a lot of WWE programming and helped further the business and Mr T helped start the largest boom period in WWE history. But Drew Carey, he was in one Royal Rumble match for 3 minutes. I know this comes across as me being incredibly mean but I feel like the Hall Of Fame loses all of it's meaning and prestige when people who were just fans or made one-time appearances get inducted.

Discuss this and please if you're coming on here to tell me how I should kill myself and I'm a terrible person, don't waste your time. I already said I think that this shitty situation is terrible and I can't feel sorry enough for Connor's parents but I think a line needs to be drawn on who gets inducted.

No because I'm not overly invested in the HoF to begin with.

I don't think past hall of famers care either.

EDIT: For what it's worth, that video package of Connor got me more emotionally invested than anything any WWE wrestler has done in quite some time. That has to count for something I guess.

I see where you're coming from, 3MB. I don't think you're insensitive. It's kinda conflicting to me as well.

Yeah, true, Connor didn't "contribute" anything to the business. I get the impression that Vince & Co. did it for Conner's parents out of their heartfelt generosity and as a token of condolence to his family.

I don't really have a problem with it. I wouldn't put it that way. But I know what you mean.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I meant problem either. Problem sounds a bit strong now that I properly read it back. It's definitely conflicting though. And thank you for calling me 3MB, you have no idea how honored I feel right now.

If Drew Carey can be in the hall of fame then I see no readon connor cant
Already said that guys who made one-time appearances like Drew Carey shouldn't be in the Hall Of Fame.

"Issue" a better word, perhaps?

And you're welcome. It is my pleasure to give you the feeling of being honored :D

My problem with all of this is how people in IWC get all emotionally invested in Connor but don't give a shit about any of John Cena's make-a-wish kids. Cena does tons of charity work and people don't care, yet DB gets a kid and people are all excited.

The hall of fame is a joke, and a mere publicity stunt.

The Hall of Fame already lacks credibility to begin with; so I don't see the problem in doing something genuinely nice for the kid and his family.

Well I certainly believe you don't mean any offense by this post, and I respect your opinion entirely.. But WWE has already set a precedent with their celebrity inductions, whether we like it or not, so expect to see many non-wrestlers being inducted in the future..

That being said, I can honestly say I have watched the Connor The Crusher video many times, and it has such a powerful emotional impact on me every time, I can't help but break down into tears.. Not just because the poor kid is sick and going through a hard time, but because it shows you how amazing the wrestling business is and the impact it can have on peoples lives.

Seeing Connor backstage with AJ, watching him say to her "Stop your craziness" its just such a real, funny, genuine touching moment, she couldn't hold back her smiles and laughter. And then he's backstage talking to Batista telling him not to hurt Daniel Bryan, and Batista is being such a nice guy telling him to get Daniel to not hurt him and he replies "No, I'm not gonna do that"

And then the moment when he gets in the ring and gets to punch HHH in the face and pin him 1-2-3, I mean come on!! I lose it every time, and he has all the wrestlers cheering him on! Then when Bryan wins the title at Mania he goes and hugs him right away.

I mean, honestly I can respect what you are saying about him being not involved with the wrestling business, but he has touched so many peoples lives with his tribute.. To me the video package dedicated to him is more memorable than some others already in the hall of fame.

It's a sub category of the HoF, not the actual HoF or even the Celeb wing.

I don't have a problem with it, kid was obviously an inspiration to a lot of the guys and girls. As the post above mentions, all his interactions backstage were so funny, terrible that a kid like that gets such a short life.

actually if you remember the warrior's speech from his HOF induction, he wanted the behind the scenes workers, the technicians etc to be rewarded
instead wwe has turned this to yet another PR stunt
i have no problem with connor the crusher etc, but calling it the warrior award is shallow

The kid beat triple h clean in the ring... Which is far more than most of the current roster could even dream of. He goes in I say! Lol

Its whatever. Doesn't bother me. I stopped caring about who went into the hall of fame after Hart went in and it became clear that Owen won't get the nod until his widowed wife passes.

Also I was unaware he was going into the hall, but rather was receiving an award at the event. Either way the kid still got a clean win over h! ;)

I felt that way about the prospect of inducting him simply into the Hall of Fame but I'll buy the 'Warrior Award' being a separate category.

I do think WWE shamelessly exploits his death at every opportunity and the way most people react to the tragedy porn honestly makes my stomach turn; I just feel extremely uncomfortable with people's hideous real life tragedy being used for emotional entertainment - and that is what it is, it's a roller coaster ride to sit in and come away crying but also sort of with a feel good "Hey everybody, I cried! I'm human! Watch this and it'll toootally make you cry, guys!".

It's the same reason people watch sad fictional stories/films or listen to tearjerker songs - it could be done tastefully but that means no sentimental 'tug-at-the-heartstrings' music played in the background.

It's the opposite of me being insensitive, I'm highly sensitive to death and tragedy - it's deeply troubling and so I can't stand it being used as popcorn fodder.

Bullshit this is just for good PR the same reason they honor Susan G komen and the whole supporting the troops and black history month. This just makes the WWE looks good that's all.

I don't have a problem with it since the WWE HoF is a joke but what I do have a problem is them exploiting Connor death for good publicity.

The same reason Bob Barker Drew Carey Pete Rose and friends are in the Hall of fame is just for publicity.
