Drawing more than some TNA house shows:

I don't quite understand why this is, but almost every show I've been at has drawn that kind of number. That's what's so crazy about this, I'm having so much fun and I'm going, wow, for somebody to say that I wasn't worth the money, there sure are a lot of people showing up at these independent shows to see exactly what I do. It's confusing, to say the least, but I'm very excited about the fact that I'm able to work in front of all these people and I'm able to give them their money's worth.

Not surprising, Styles is a huge star. People just don't wanna admit to his true worth in the industry.

Two things. One, Indies build up a LOCAL fan base. They put on regular shows at regular venues. If they were to travel they would not draw near as good. Two, if they are showing up for him why couldn't he draw with TNA. Granted if he travels to different areas the local fans will come out as he's a big name. Probably bigger than anyone on the smaller promotions.

Your regular fan bases for an indy show is never more than a couple hundred unless you're truly something special like ECW was.

AJ draws on the indies because he's advertised well. Your local indy might book him 3 months in advance so they can plug his appearance for 2 shows (resulting in repeat business) and those people all bring friends and then the promotion goes all out with advertising to let people know that AJ Styles is coming to town.

TNA simply throws a couple thousand dollars into local TV commercials, advertises it on their TV show and then just turn up. Not a smart way to promote a show.

AJ's has always been a decent draw. Only haters can't see it. He regularly, along with Angle and Joe, was getting the most pops in any TNA live event. This happened both nationally and internationally. His merch has also always sold.

AJ got a sweet deal going on, so TNA has probably lost him till he hangs it up.

My local indy booked AJ and the place was standing room only. It was seen as special to have one of "our" top guys go up against AJ and have a great match against him and after the match AJ got on the mic and put the guy over big time for giving him such a great match.

AJ has out-drawn other indy stars like Steen, Richards, and others they have brought in to the point that lately none of the top indy names have even been booked and attendance is steady with a ton of regulars (both fans and wrestlers). AJ brought in the casual crowd

Watched couple of his matches on indies. None of them was worth my time.
Glad NJPW signed him so I can watch Styles work 100% again.

So many ifs, bro. You seem to be insulted/annoyed on a personal level that AJ's doing fine without TNA. Misery 101.

I've said this for a while, if TNA could only be a competent classic wrestling promotion, they would do well.

Just do that simple thing. It's not brain surgery.

They need to hire a solid grass-root wrestling promoter and let him do his thing.

Hoping AJ gets good money, be it with 100 fans in the audience or 1 000.

Bleh...good for AJ I guess. In the grand scheme of things, he's still hurting his legacy by wrestling in the indys after being let go by a wrestling promotion with a national television deal like TNA and ofcourse being turned down by global #1 promotion, WWE.

He should've just re-signed and remained the face of TNA. Now, he will be known as a greedy M-f*cker who overestimated his own worth, and a guy who is stuck in the indys forever with no outs.

This was not a bad match at all, I don't think they had worked together before. It is not Flair-Steamboat but for indy wrestling it was good. Have to post a link, won't embed. AJ vs. Cedric Alexander in PWX.

Watched that match a few weeks ago. Great match...way better than you would ever seen of him on a TNA PPV now a days.

The TNA brand is a significant negative draw. The roster members are having to draw with the anvil called TNA on top of them. It's obvious Styles outside of TNA would draw better on a show than Styles in TNA would on a TNA show.

He has Japan, ROH, and the better paying indy promotions. They must have turned people away to the PWX show, they were standing in the upper deck. There weren't enough chairs.
