It appears WWE newest signing, AJ styles is already unhappy with the promotion, branding him as the "Redneck Rookie". Styles did an interview recently where he mentioned the moniker, noting that he was proud to be a redneck, but he’s no rookie to anyone in the business.

If you missed it, The Miz first referred to Styles as Redneck Rookie in his promo -

"You really think a little rookie redneck like AJ Styles can make it in the WWE?"

WWE announcers have been pushing the moniker in the broadcast since then, especially Byron Saxton.

Jim Ross in one of JRsBBQ.com blogs said that he felt the nicknames both "Redneck" and "Rookie" were counterproductive and should be dropped.
Well this seems absolutely stupid reason to be upset about, especially considering it is the truth. AJ Styles needs to realize that unless you worked for WCW like Sting, debuting fresh in WWE you are always a freaking rookie and nothing more. The reason being that no other promotion since WCW is even remotely close to WWE's brand popularity and global penetration. That's just how it is whether fans like it or not.

Also, his arrogant statement exposes how much of an egomaniac this dickhead is. He doesn't seem like someone who wants to learn, improve and excel over time. Perhaps, WWE/Vince need to humble this mega-mainstream star, the super huge draw, AJ Styles and bring him down to earth, down to reality before considering pushing him in WWE. There needs to be proper hierarchy in place, one that is recognized and respected. Talents should know their place.

AJ Styles is anything but a rookie. WWE is not the sole wrestling promotion in the world. WWE is not "Wrestling". WWE is not where wrestling begins and ends.

So saying that AJ is a rookie is selfish as hell of WWE if anything.

I wouldn't be acting smug in the least actually if I got outperformed so dramatically by the two guys I'm working my first program with, being labelled as the "hottest free agent in wrestling" no less. Miz and Jericho have indeed exposed Styles on most of his deficiencies in the WWE environment. It's up to Styles to either take it on the chin and improve or sulk like most of the NJPW/Indy supremacists are, like on this site.

There is no reason to label AJ Styles a rookie. He is, in fact, more accomplished with more experience under his belt than a lot of the WWE roster. JBL has mentioned AJ's success outside of WWE on commentary, touting his championships all around the world, further showing how stupid it is for WWE to act like AJ is a rookie.

WWE should stop referring to AJ as a rookie immediately.

Wow, you think that AJ or people who post here would understand what a heel is....

The crowd don't agree he is a rookie [and he isn't], thereby giving the Miz heat.

This is exactly what Miz did with Daniel Bryan and it started the ball rolling for him. And the commentary team aren't agreeing with Miz even like Cole did than.
