I got the feeling from her she was more focused on mic work rather than in ring work. I can't recall her doing anything in ring that made me say wow, or ouch. People say she's one of the best women wrestlers in WWE.

I don't see it all I have seen from her is that heel kick and the black widow her matches consisted of her throwing elbows kicks and submission holds. People like to rag on the divas for not being exciting in ring when IMO Aj is one of the least exciting divas on the roster. She can run her mouth on the mic and make crazy faces, so I guess mic skills are more important than in ring skills?

Has she ever performed a body slam? Hip toss? Don't even think I've seen her do a simple suplex.

She must have gotten content with her ring prowess and said screw trying anything new. And after she lost the title she up and leaves?

When she returns I'm expecting her to up her game. Wish she would have done that during her title reign.

Thoughts?

Re: Aj lee's wrestling during her reign

She is quite shaky in the ring. She works well against Kaitlyn and Natalya, and at times Naomi, but against other girls not so much. She is a passable wrestler. Not great.

There was a time when Divas matches and segments were given enough time to develop a story and captivate the crowd. The championship was defended every PPV and they even did gimmick matches (and I am not talking about bra n panties).
AJ matches with Kaitlyn were good, both can work and they gave them time to build a proper feud. But the rest of reign has been underwhelming and most of the matches has consisted of Total Divas multi-tag matches.
AJ is the Diva with bigger moveset along with Paige and Emma. He is doing a freaking shining wizard. And you shouldn't expect AJ to do a bodyslam in the same way you don't expect Daniel Bryan to do the same.

She seems kind of off in ring and its hard to believe she cAn hurt anyone with her being so damn small. She's like 4 something and 90lbs.

I thought she was a little hit and miss, worked well with the stronger women. Payback match with Kaitlyn being one of the best diva's matches I've seen in a long time. Her selling annoyed me a little bit, in that any knock down bump she took was sold pretty much the exact same way. She is better than a lot of the women on the roster in the ring, but she's still inconsistent.

yes i am amazed she didn't get world class matches out of eva marie, aksana, rosa and cameron in the 2 minutes she was allowed every week on raw...

Heels aren't suppose to be have a exciting wrestling style. When your purpose as a Heel is to get the fans to boo you and cheer your opponents, it really wouldn't be conducive to pull off exciting moves that has the fans popping for you. The Heel is suppose to slow the match down so that the fans can rally behind the face to make their comeback. It's the WWE style. Notice how the Bellas starting using more exciting moves once they turned Face as opposed to before when they were Heel and would be rest-hold machines.

It's a combination of poor booking, WWE match formula, time constraint, heel status (heels aren't allowed to be exciting or creative. They're supposed to slow the match down so the crowd can get hyped for the face comeback) and below average opponents (can't make magic out of shit or in this case Cameron, Bellas, etc.)

Babyfaces usually don't control the match, that's the heel's job. Look at Paige. It looks like they're having her go the Super Cena route and getting beat for 95% of all her matches only to come back out of nowhere with her finisher, and win with a total of 5 or so moves.
