They certainly need to snatch up a few stars. There's too much of a star power difference from top to bottom.

WWE is going for the war of attrition route.
Bang. It’s definitely an obstacle that AEW (and every other promotion not called WWE-something) has to deal with right now. There’s a glaring gap between the top and the bottom, but I also think AEW is working hard to close that gap. It’s going to take time — people don’t jump from obscurity into the spotlight overnight. TK also seems to be smart enough to not thrust anybody into that spotlight before they’re ready. They’re doing what they can with the talent they’ve got right now.

Jesus Christ this has to be the worst shit I've read on this forum yet. Sick of marks on here getting ultra-triggered when a mild breeze of criticism blows in.
I'm talking about the thread that I could make.

I don't really have problems with the thread that CNB created

- Luchasaures is a dinosaur/man.
- Why is he jungle boy, has he ever been to a jungle?
- Random matches where wrestlers are dressing like Rick and Morty characters or street fighters, without real significant reason??
- What do I believe Private Party actually go to parties and live VIP lifestyles? They don’t seem to show it on their television, nor their twitter.
- Why the fuck is a japanese lady dressing up like Freddie Mercury? Velveteen and Shinsuke incorporates elements from Prince and Michael Jackson into their routine, but the Freddie Japanese lady is just perplexing and not entertaining enough for television.
-Luchasaurus is a luchador so his persona never really bothered me. Why do Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix wear masks?
-It was a Hallowe'en episode. Rick and Morty was a paid cross-promotion. They actually used it as an angle to have Santana and Ortiz jump the Bucks
-Private Party really aren't clicking with me but the crowd loves them, so whatev I guess
-I agree that Emi Sakura character is weird. Particularly since she is a heel but trying to get the crowd to stomp, stomp, clap.

I think when you give wrestlers freedom, it's just gonna be like this. What's good is REALLY good but sometimes there will be things that don't make a lot of sense.

This is where good coaches are invaluable. A wrestler may have a great idea of what they want their character to be, but a well-seasoned coach can really help them bring it home. Your mention of Emi Sakura is a perfect example of this. Somebody backstage should have been right on her after that match telling her to save the stomp-stomp-clap thing for her face turn.

That’s the kind of fine-tuning that most of this roster needs to further establish their characters and roles. Those details are far more effective at building characters than just throwing in more goddamn promos.

Sakura is not really a heel tho.

She's more a tweener.

They're far from perfect. They'd be the first to tell you. We're 10 shows in total, six on television weeklies.

I will say comparing the last show to the first couple you can see the production improve already - camera shots and show storyboarding/timing out.

The problem is not on AEW, is on their thin roster.

Jon Moxley is a fucking star, Jericho a veteran, MJf and Hangman good prospects.

But then, look at the bottom of the roster and the star potential is almost zero. They gotta go on a hunt to find marketeable guys with charisma and some big guys.
How would you know this when they don't let anyone but Cody or Jericho have the mic? I bet there's quite a few guys down there that could give you a good promo or get a lot of crowd support with good character build up. Pentagon has been a star in several promotions. Evans plays a great obnoxious heel and could fill a higher role on the card. Even of the two of the guys you mentioned MJF hasn't cut a promo in weeks and we've seen Adam Page talk for like 2 minutes. The roster isn't lacking talent. It's lacking a vice president that doesn't shove himself down everyone's throat.

In You're Opinion. Why are you stating it like it's fact.
You’re something else bro. You are such a blind stan. I like some aspects of AEW but there’s a lot that needs worked out. The ridiculous work rate matches every week where everyone has to look competitive. Get rid of the goofy acts like Orange Cassidy and Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy. Get rid of Nyla Rose and Sonny Kiss. Fix the women’s division. Get rid of the dark order. There’s a lot of things that need fixed. But they are still relatively new. Also Kenny Omega is kinda bland, young bucks are annoying too, they flip around and spam super kicks. Cody will never be viewed as a main eventer. With that said I’ll still watch full gear tonight

Man, I'm so glad that I'm somebody who really enjoys the show and doesn't see all these negatives. I feel bad for the people who hate WWE and still don't have an alternative they can enjoy. I mean, only a little bad of course, because I have a wrestling show I fucking love :lol.

Same here. I’m not blind to the things that need improving, but fuck, what tv show in the history of tv shows has ever been perfect?! I know they’re working on the things that need to be worked on. I know that everything can’t be fixed overnight, especially the lack of star depth on the roster. And I’m glad that they are not knee-jerk reacting to every excruciating bit of nitpicking coming from every direction. What they’re doing, they’re doing well, and at least to me it’s so much better than the alternatives that I can easily overlook the relatively minor deficiencies. I’m seeing personalities and styles that I’ve never seen before. I’m seeing an approach to wrestling that’s almost exactly what I think it should be. It’s good, fun, enjoyable shit, and I’ve decided I’m gonna just ignore anybody who’d rather tear it and its fans down.

The positives far outweigh the negatives to me. They do have some stuff to work on it’s just going to take time, like really nailing the women’s division and getting the midcard stronger. To me that’s the biggest issues. But they’ve got the main event and tag scenes well established and those are great. It does seem like they’re tweaking and improving things already, just gonna take some time. But all in all I think they’ve done a good job. I’m enjoying the hell out of it.

1. Nobody other than Chris Jericho and Cody know how to be ‘television stars’

Week six of Dynamite and it’s sadly apparent that the ‘wrestling’ talent is closer compared to circus acts than Hollywood celebrities. Chris Jericho is wildly entertaining, with his segments clearly garnering critical acclaim. Cody Rhodes himself has stepped up in this regard, he looks like a star and has begin to speak like a star too.

Beyond that, we’re seeing cosplayers, people dressing like dinosaurs, street fighters, some stupid manga shit, party goers, but yes, after six weeks we have no idea how or why...

These are only a very few examples.

2. The underwhelming performances of Kenny Omega.

Now I could get vitriol for this. I’ve been to WrestleKingdom 11 and 12, I’ve seen the brilliance of Kenny Omega, he is a shell of his former self here in AEW. This Kenny Omega looks unmotivated, distant and lacks focus compared to his phenomenal NJPW run, specifically his chase to the IWGP title.

He’s apparently responsible for the abomination that we are calling ‘the women’s division’, which has got to be by far, the weakest segment on every AEW show. Riho is average, Nyla botches everything, Brandi is absolutely the worst personality on the show, Awesome Kong is absent and past her prime, Britt Baker has been underwhelming, Kylie Rae mysteriously disappeared and went back to TNA (could this be related)?

Anyway, Kenny was signed for big money and deserves to be scrutinized here for a poor performance on the women’s division he’s attempted to establish and his own lack luster performances which include an average match with PAC that had a few bad botches and a television character that isn’t translating at this time.

3. The Dark Order, The Librarian, Brandi, Nyla Rose, Shawn Spears...

Characters that have been heavily promoted and have completely flopped. You could argue, well WWE have one billion guys that have flopped too, but first impressions are lasting, anyone tuning into that first episode would have had to watch all these acts, and all of them are so bad, that the hardest of hardcore fans cannot stand them either.

I’m impressed that AEW has acted quickly to relegate some of this talent, but id like to honeslty see them released at this point, or used to build the wins column for talent who I feel have exceeded my expectations and are important to the future of the show ...Sammy, MJF, Jericho, Cody, Dustin..

4. The WWE has literally signed up the cream of the crop, talent wise and unfortunately AEW are starting to be exposed for their lack of talent.

WWE could have awful shows, but then you see AJ Styles, or Adam Cole or WALTER, across the board they’ve signed up the best talent, AEW are scrambling for the crumbs on the floor sadly. To no fault of their own.

5. OWE

SOOOO heavily pushed, and the ‘company’ from China disbanded with nothing left to show for it other than CIMA.

Now let’s not forget, AEW we’re pumping this up like the Cruiserweights from Mexico were for WCW. it flopped hard.

I don’t want to be mostly negative, Chris Jericho is GOD. Sammy Guevera is developing nicely, they’ve got a really good Tag Team division and the Young Bucks are straight up fire, Cody has quite clearly morphed into a phenomenal player for them. Tony Schiavone has been the recruit of the year and let’s not forget this MJF and Cody story, which is blossoming quote beautifully.

But yes, there are problems and it’s important to discuss.
Everyone has already brought up what I would have said so I am just going to say this;

Rome was not built in a day. The top companies of today did not become that in a couple of months existing. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Disney etc. took years to become what they are today. Even the smaller companies below the ones I've mentioned took time to be what they are now.

Just have a little patience.
