"While speaking with sources inside AEW regarding the upcoming Double or Nothing PPV this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada one of the topics discussed was the “Four Pillars” Match for the AEW World Championship. Sources relayed to me that the creative person responsible for writing the storyline for the entire “Four Pillars” World Championship program has been none other than AEW World Champion MJF."
Never let MJF near the book again. If true. 👀
I argued in the Dynamite thread that this feud has been booked well, it's just that the cast is not up to A-list standards. No amount of emotional vignettes and plot twists can make me view Sammy and JB as serious PPV contenders for the world title at this juncture. I love Darby and he's one of my favourite performers in AEW, but he's a TV special defense for MJF too.
The Pillars feud has, unlike a lot of world title feuds in the past, had multiple segments on shows, a bunch of lead-in matches, and some tensions/intrigue. The wrestlers have been allowed to explain their backgrounds and motivations. Give the same script to MJF, Punk, Kenny and Moxley, a more legitimate AEW Four Pillars, and it'd be considered a well-booked feud IMO.
This one feels like it should be on the undercard for the AEW World Jr. Heavyweight Title to me (except MJF, who belongs on the top tier).
