Again, it was the peak moment of a match on the premiere. Was the entire match like this? No. Was is a sprint though? Absolutely. Different from the Gargano matches based of the merit that these two wrestle completely different styles where Cole & Johnny wrestle extremely similar.Sorry but that gif also made me not want to watch it. It looks exactly like the stuff I hated in Cole vs gargano and if that was what the match was like, I will pass. Still think both are great but looks like I match I won't like.
It's incredibly stupid. They should've both been fired for that. The lack of psychology and the sheer fucking mockery being made of wrestling here is shocking.
Personal taste does eventually have to run up against some sort of objective reality at SOME point. For example, calling Trump an attractive man. I don't care how fucked up your personal taste in, nobody would buy that.
Well, that's not correct, because of that pesky little thing called personal taste, and I like Riddle.
Personally, I thought the match was very good and right on the money to open up the competition against AEW. Solid stuff.
This is a really reductive way of looking at wrestling if you ask me. "There's no story."It's just a bunch of moves and no story. Lame.
Wow that's way too much. So the GTS is now just a setup for a huge power bomb which is just a set up for some impressive top rope move, all just to get a 2 count? That type of stuff really takes me out the match. They wanted to have a really hot opener or a really hot "epic" match and they were too eager with it. The Cody/Guevara match had moments like that too, like "Really" moments in it where too big of moves weren't being sold, weren't being allowed to breathe, etc. Many matches are worked like this in the ring by the wreslers on the fly or agented out like this. Its just a flurry of move-move-move "gotta get all our shit in!" and it doesn't seem epic or awesome or anything, just seems hokey.
What I find overblown are all the pin attempts and kicking out of stuff that realistically shouldn't be kicked out of.
There's a sequence in WWE's official preview/synopsis of the match where Matt Riddle...
1. Hits Adam Cole with a Go to Sleep
2. Grabs Adam Cole and Powerbombs him, maintaining the hold.
3. Adam Cole cooperates a bit with Riddle to get put in a position to get plastered in the face with a knee shot
4. Riddle immediately goes top rope and does a signature looking twisted senton variant that is called "The Bro-Ton" or the Twisted Broseph or something, i didn't really catch the name.
But its clear that this is a signature or finish too and he's got to have beaten some people with it.
Good think Ranaullo was here to tell me "Riddle didn't get all of it!" as if he needs to get all of it after plastering a guy in the face with his knee twice and powerbombing him!
I'm just like, "Oh no, don't tell me Cole is gonna kick out of all that shit!"
AND HE KICKS OUT. HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT. SO FUCKIN' EPIC AND AWESOME, BRO! FIGHT FOREVER!
That sequence happens in the first 80 seconds of the video and its not the finish!
"How is that not the finish?" is my number one question when I watch contemporary wrestling.
Absolutely pathetic. :hayden3
Yep. Fuck psychology, selling and story telling only MOVEZ~ is important.LOL. As long as we're popping the same 300 virgins in the crowd I guess.
Is the story we can do a bunch of moves and not sell most of them? This is a really reductive way of looking at wrestling if you ask me. "There's no story."
Yes there is. It's the first big match against AEW on a big big show, and Matt Riddle is clearly on his way to being a top guy and he wants a shot at the title. What does that mean, no story? Because Cole didn't work the leg for half an hour means there was no narrative? Because both guys worked an exciting high paced hard-hitting match there's no plot?
This strikes me more as a complaint that you have been conditioned to throw out there without actually giving the match a look for context and story.
I literally told you the story. But you seem pretty set on enjoying hating and your little narrative, so you have fun with that. I hope it's fulfilling for you.Is the story we can do a bunch of moves and not sell most of them?
If so, then yes I guess there's a story. :draper2
Not defending anything but didn't cowboy Bob Orton win like 97%of his matches with a plastic cast when he broke his arm in the 80s?Ok. I watched this. Few things.
Get out of Full Sail. My God the crowd is so cringey and half of them look like they dont know what a barber shop is.
Mauro needs to learn the term "lay out." Shut up sometimes. Let the action breathe.
People calling the sequence that has been GiFed the "climax' of the match are just straight up lying. They did 10 more minutes of nonsense after that.
Look. The athleticism is impressive, and Im not saying it doesnt take talent to do what they did, it does. But holy fucking shit, its so mindnumbigly stupid. Cole hits a second flip piledriver, and in 3 seconds, Riddle is able to duck his knee and then lock on a full power choke like nothing happened. Then the finish is a fucking cast shot. None of this makes any sense. None of the action has any time to breathe, feel significant or memorable. People make fun of Russos "car crash" booking, this is car crash wrestling. It has no logic. Just pack a bunch of shit together and throw it at a wall. I felt nothing after it was over other than my intelligence being insulted that after all that shit a plastic cast got the finish. Whoever is agenting this stuff and putting it together, please stop.
And to the people saying "hurr durr its a "sprint" they dont have to sell or use basic psychology ", blow me.
