A Pitch Has Been Made in WWE for Asuka to Turn Heel in Her Feud With Bianca Belair

It was reported today by PWInsider that there has been a pitch to turn Asuka heel and there has been talk about Asuka challenging Bianca Belair for the Raw Women's Championship at Night of Champions.
At the moment, there is no word on if the heel turn will happen but if there's a pitch for a match against Belair at Night of Champions, then it seems likely to happen because babyface vs. babyface feuds are rare in WWE. Asuka wrestled and lost to Belair at WrestleMania and during the build-up they hinted at Asuka going down a darker path.
In other roster news...Internally, WWE has listed Edge, Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, and Santos Escobar as the top babyfaces on the SmackDown roster.
The top SmackDown heels are listed as Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, Austin Theory, Karrion Kross, LA Knight, and Grayson Waller. There are "free agents" that have yet to be assigned to a specific brand.

You make interesting points. Manipulating their audience with these "records" is a tactic WWE honestly believes in. Why do wrestlers still want to work for a company who will routinely use one person to grip important titles for 500 days or more?

I thought that Asuka was sort of heel before already when they were building the Mania match. She was being heelish.... I am skeptical that Asuka has any more of a chance of winning now if she didn't win at WrestleMania. They seem to still have that rocket strapped to Bianca's back tight enough to last for awhile longer. They push people to the top who have 'the look' first and foremost and will look good doing PR work. Bianca is an amazing physical specimen, if she was a black Doudrop she would never be anywhere near a title. Reigns resembles a handsome marvel movie superhero. It's look first = marketability full stop.

Why didn’t they just do this leading up to Mania? Would have made the storyline much better.
She may have but they did a BAD job at portraying it. The closest ‘heel’ thing we got was when she attacked Bianca after their tag match with Piper and Chelsea (and we got nothing from them in the week after that, both were not on the show). What Asuka has done in these last two weeks is more riveting than that pre-mania ‘story’Uhhh....she already did by default before Mania since Bianca Cena is clearly the generic overpushed babyface and Asuka was fucking with her with the mist?
