A Gimmick Idea for Jack Swagger
Swagger can go in the ring, we all know that but he's pretty awful on the mic. However, he's so awful he's unintentionally funny and can be pretty entertaining as a result. He always sounds like he's miffed at something as he stumbles, stutters and lisps his way through his promos. Also, recently he's adopted this 'angry kid' type of vibe to him where he's basically like the kid at school who is ALWAYS 'close to the edge' and someone always pushes him off it just for the lulz. He also has a very punchable face, just like Biff from Back to the Future. He has the tools to be a pretty good heat magnet.
The gimmick I'm proposing is one similar to that of this kid:
I mean, Swagger even kinda sounds like the kid. Just have Swagger have unintentionally hilarious freak outs and you have gold. I mean, who doesn't hate the kid in the videos?

Ideally, I think this would work, but I can see WWE overdoing it and just making it annoying. But if there was ever a personality to pull it off, it would be Swagger.

I think that most likely it would indeed work. I have never been able to take Jack Swagger seriously, partly for the reasons you listed in your first post, however, this would be a great way to use Swagger's weakness and turn it into a strength.Yeah, it's a work but it's a really good work. In my opinion, any heat is good heat. Especially Vickie heat. You can't say he's not a good heel because people boo him. That's his job. Even if they want him out of the building, he's still doing what he is supposed to do. I like the idea of this gimmick though .Swagger could pull it off in my opinion .It would leave him more of a comedy act though ,kinda a shame for someone of his in ring skill to be a comedy act .But hey ,at least he would be intresting.
The argument was that he is so terrible on the mic that people booed him just to get him to shut up. Whether that is good or bad for business is another matter.
