Preparing for the Election this Tuesday ive actually came to the realization that if your between the ages of 18-35 this president election will affect the rest of your life. Sure you can piss and moan about sociological issues, The Economy, Domestic Issues, Gay rights whatever. But the underlying issue I see if your between 18-35 is the war in Iraq. First things first war or no war I wasn't going to vote for bush anyways but the war is just the icing on the cake. If Bush is re-elected on tuesday I honestly believe that within the next year the draft will be reinstated. Just look at the facts alone

- 203,000 troops on the ground when it started and now 500,000 troops are needed for ground combat alone. that is a 246.3% increase in just 2 years and there is no promising end in sight the way it's going now.

-over a thousand troops have died already and yet there is no stability in place in iraq just yet.

Although Kerry is weak at least he can get some allies back to help us in the war. With Kerry in office I honestly can feel a sense of confidence knowing I won't be drafted. I love this country an all but I didn't support the war much since it started. Let alone the fact that we know that there are no WMDs in Iraq and the fact that Saddam has been caught I lost whatever little interest and drive I had inside to join the army had the option come up for the draft. With allies in place if (and I hope when) Kerry is elected within the next 2-3 years I honestly belive that america will be out of Iraq FOR GOOD cause of the help of allies This whole Ordeal could end sooner then you think if kerry is in office.

Vote Kerry 2004 :D

dude it's a rant that if your 18-35 can affect the rest of your life..that's the point of this whole thing. Right now all the issues I don't give a shit about. But I do not wanna be drafted in any way. I do not wanna fight in Iraq myself. That's the point of this thread

They both said that they wouldn't bring the draft back. So unless they decide to screw everyone over, there won't be a draft.

Hmmmm... maybe someone bringing back the draft will be the start of that American civil war that someone said was going to happen in that thread... then the US gets nuked or something.

Oh yeah... it was that thread with that guy that said he was a time traveler, and he had to get some computer chip from the 70s...hahaha...

For once I agre with TWFS. There won't be a draft, it's not even their decision. If Kerry gets into office he will cut all ties with Iraq and other countries. Bring back every troop we have, and leave them hanging. Maybe he will build a big wall around America, that seems to be his concern. It's really funny when he talks about companies going overseas. The Heinz Ketchup factories are overseas. Made in China, I just checked.

yea but TWFS if you haven't realized already...everyone in politics lies. Although Bush doesn't have the say he has Influence on it and I'm not saying Bush will make the draft come back I just feel that Bush will be forced to bring it back if these staggering numbers increase. Remember there is a big difference between wanting something and forcing something.

But what you don't see is that the war will continue over time. It won't end overnight. If there is going to be a draft there will be no matter who president. If Bush would be forced into bringing it back, Kerry would also.

I'd love to talk politics, but because of a certain female member of BDW who will remain nameless, the mere mention of politics makes me cringe.

That doesn't have to be the case with kerry really. Although the Likelyhood will be there, Kerry at least can get the allies back. That is the only thing however Kerry has riding for him. Bush drove everyone away. Kerry at least can get some back.

Bush wins.

(not that I'm for or against any of the candidates really...it's just how it's going to go end up)

Only if his brother helps him. Kerry has this won unless Bush calls for his family to get dead people to vote for him like in 2000. Bush pulled all the stops to win in 2000, but still lost the popularity vote. He also lost the election, but Gore didn't want to be president anymore, so he just screwed the U.S. by letting Bush be president.

We will know who wins the election at about 4 est time today.

If the Washington Redskins win then Bush will win but if the Green Bay Packers win then Kerry will win.

I don't see how someone could vote for Kerry. The man doesn't know what he believes in. I don't want a President that can't make a choice. I'll just shut up now.

The only reason that the terrorists are running rampant now is because they are friends with Bush. He hangs out with them on a daily basis. Why attack a country when you are getting BJ's from the president.

There will never be a draft again. Vote Bush, he's honest about who he is and what he stands for. It doesn't matter what a candidate says he'll do if you elect him, congress will never let it happen that way. So the wa I see it is which one will act if we are acted upon? The democrats are more likely to put sanctions and trade embargos on anyone who acts against us. If some country or faction acts against us, go blow their ass off the face of the earth.

That was the dumbest thing i've ever heard. You must be a redneck. You don't go to war right when somebody attacks you. You have to think of what you will do about a week. If you decide to go to war, try to get your allies to back you. If they say know, give them some insentive to come and help, like money or goods or some other crap. Bush made one fatal mistake as president, not having a good reason to go to war with Iraq. He made some bull about them having "weapons of mass destruction" and when the rednecks said lets go to war, the rest of the country went with it. And he never gave the other countries a reason to help us. He just wanted to get revenge for his father and make sure he was in control of the oil so bad, he couldn't think straight. I say vote for Kerry, you have to be intelligent to be president, not a redneck.
