Preparing for the Election this Tuesday ive actually came to the realization that if your between the ages of 18-35 this president election will affect the rest of your life. Sure you can piss and moan about sociological issues, The Economy, Domestic Issues, Gay rights whatever. But the underlying issue I see if your between 18-35 is the war in Iraq. First things first war or no war I wasn't going to vote for bush anyways but the war is just the icing on the cake. If Bush is re-elected on tuesday I honestly believe that within the next year the draft will be reinstated. Just look at the facts alone
- 203,000 troops on the ground when it started and now 500,000 troops are needed for ground combat alone. that is a 246.3% increase in just 2 years and there is no promising end in sight the way it's going now.
-over a thousand troops have died already and yet there is no stability in place in iraq just yet.
Although Kerry is weak at least he can get some allies back to help us in the war. With Kerry in office I honestly can feel a sense of confidence knowing I won't be drafted. I love this country an all but I didn't support the war much since it started. Let alone the fact that we know that there are no WMDs in Iraq and the fact that Saddam has been caught I lost whatever little interest and drive I had inside to join the army had the option come up for the draft. With allies in place if (and I hope when) Kerry is elected within the next 2-3 years I honestly belive that america will be out of Iraq FOR GOOD cause of the help of allies This whole Ordeal could end sooner then you think if kerry is in office.
