So, yeah it's my 21st in November. Just curious on what you did on your 21st, who what you're going to do, or just ideas in general.

Go partying and drinking? Not 21 yet, but that is generally what everybody does I would assume. Pretty much do that for all my birthdays, it will be no different when I turn 19 and am actually legal to drink, that way I can finally go into clubs and pubs.

My 21st bday was kind of weird. I didn't want to do anything because my own birthday doesn't mean that much to me. Other people's do, but not my own. So my family wanted to do a whole bunch of stuff and I didn't want to and it ended up in an argument. And they hadn't set up anything yet so it's not like they went to a lot of trouble to set things up and then I just refused to do things, I would have understood if they got mad at that.

The popular thing seems to be to go out drinking when you turn 21, or when you turn 19 here.

I celebrated both my 19th and 21st birthdays as a Canadian and US citizen respectively.

Both nights I got a group of buddies together, went bar hopping and through the casino district of Windsor and Detroit.

Probably to attract kids when they turn 19 for tourism. Though they took a tough blow when they made it necessary for a passport to travel to Canada from the US. Though you can get a drivers license passport that allows you to travel to Canada.

in australia we can start drinking/gambling at 18 it makes perfect sence to me

i guess thats why our national anthem starts with

''Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free''

I mean we have awesome beaches, hot chicks, can drink at a normal age, and best of all we don't all carry guns like lunatics and last but not least we play sports on a global level seriously whats canada compete in ? they suck at everything lol

What makes 18 a normal age and 19 not a normal age? That makes no sense.

We have great beaches, hotter chicks, and ski hills, and wide variety of weather across the country(no its not just constantly cold or constantly hot like Australia.)

Pretty sure Canada broke a record with how many gold medals they won at the last winter Olympics. How many did Australia win again?

Gambling isn't a Federal age limit in the states. For example: in Michigan you can gamble at 18, but in Las Vegas you need to be 21.

It gives a legal adult at least a year to process the adult scene and take in everything; simply my opinion, though.

We'll lets be onest Most people in america have gotten drunk before their 21st birthday. just like people in australia and canada drink before their legally allowed to as well

What makes 18 a ''normal'' age is it's more realistic atleast imo 17 is still too young your still at school where's 19 is way to old your finished school easily. i think we picked the perfect age tbo fuck waiting till 21 thats bullshit what a joke

i feel sorry for the poor parents who have to buy their kids alcohol for that long like i said australias smart that way

why have a law that people blatantly break everyday it makes no sence

18 is the legal drinking age down here yet 21 is still a 'big' celebration due to the damn american influence on our culture.
That's really odd. The whole reason turning 21 is a big deal in American is because you can drink legally. I never would have thought countries with lower age limits would make a big deal of it. The "big" birthdays for younger people usually come with being able to do something that you couldn't before.

Australia doesn't really have much of a winter so it's not like anyone there is training in any of the winter sports. Not too many people in Australia would ever aspire to go to the Olympics for Cross Country Skying.
