It’s not comparable.

Bruno Sammartino would have been pushing 70 with a wrestling career that started in the 1950s, had limited national exposure, was unknown to most casual fans. Goldberg is early 50’s, had a much shorter career, was a huge star, and has hours of material on the WWE network for fans to familiarise themselves with. Sammartino wouldn’t have drawn in the Attitude Era, whereas Goldberg does draw now.

Nobody had a problem with Hogan coming back to the WWF in 2002.

Well maybe if WWE stop relying on stars of the past we might actually have some stars.

It;s still stupid that a guy that almost killed himself gets to go over someone who can actually wrestle and has actual talent. Goldberg will remain a star even if he loses, new up and coming stars don't get that luxury

Hogan put over Lesner and Rock. Meanwhile Goldberg has squashed Kevin Owens and is about to squash Ziggler.

And yes many people had problem with Hogan coming back to WWE in 2002. Especially if you read the message boards/forums back then. I was one of those people :P

You need to be yourself, you can't be no-one else.

ah yeah but what many people don't realise about that whole brock / hogan thing was that hogan only let brock beat him on smackdown like he did because they were supposed to work another match later (think it was survivor series) where hogan would get his win back (because of course, its hogan) but hogan ended up leaving before it happened.

think there was even some story about how hogan was supposed to be in the triple threat between HHH, rock and lesnar at "global warning" but refused to fly out there for one reason or another.

"After it all, you'll find out you were always one of us, act like you don't remember, you said we'd live forever, who do you think you're kidding? you were only one of us in time"

I am well aware but to me it still counts lol. :P

Although I do wonder if Vince would have let Hogan go over Brock at the time...

Ziggler is far from "New up and coming star". He has had a longer career in wrestling than Goldberg.. So out of those two, the "up and coming" is Goldberg

Re: Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler

WWE has a massive opportunity to make a big star out of this feud in Dolph going in with SD moving to Fox.
With Randy having neck issues you are taking a huge blow of having established stars on your show. It's time to take off the leash and let Ziggler and Miz feature in the main event going forward.

Because, and I say this as a huge Ziggler fan, the notion of a complete loser like Dolph beating Goldberg is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
