He's not commentating for the UFC. He's commentating for CFFC.

Yeah but how many pro fights did Jon Anik have?

You don't necessarily need to have an impressive history as a competitive fighter to understand how the sport works and convey the action to an audience.

Re: CMPunk MMA commentator

So we get to listen to a guy who got wrecked twice and is clueless when it comes to fighting in the UFC?

Totally agree. Doubt he could deliver the level of analysis and insight on the fights and fighters that UFC commentators do regularly every single event. Punk honestly seems to know very little based on the past 4 years outside of making blanket statements. It'll be an awkward experience at best with him trying to mask his lack of knowledge with his colorful vocabulary.

This is the best he can do though. He's burned all his bridges in wrestling and embarrassed himself in MMA. Could care less though because the guy is a vile piece of shit to everyone he comes across.

Yea CM Punk has twice the balls as Rogan. He put in the work and didn't get to the UFC cause of fame or mone..... oh wait.

Get the fuck out of here with "guts" or "bravery". CM Punk only got in UFC cause he had a name from WWE. Absolutely nothing to do with anything fight relevant. Nothing mroe than a celebrity freakshow experiment

Re: CMPunk MMA commentator

Punks whole foray into MMA has been a disaster. Hes thrown away almost 5 years, and considering his age those were probably some of the last years where he could consistently perform to an elite level in the ring. Such a waste.

You're right never denied Punk got into the UFC because of his WWE past.

He's trained with everybody matters. If certified killers say you're a certified killer, that makes you...?

It's a bit like saying those guys on youtube that are famous for doing football stunts are "cowards" because they don't try out for club teams. It's missing the point when their skill is blatant already.

This is a good point on your part. Anik has some access to how the sport works. However he got it might be the way for Punk to go.

I hate to run away with the analogies here but the best way to explain my hesitation is to liken it to people who can't whistle. You can probably write essays about how people purse their lips and let the right amount of wind in, but at the end of the day, when certain people do all of the right steps, sound doesn't come out. As it doesn't for CM Punk, but maybe the approximation will be enough to get him to do a decent job.

Sad thing, it's the crummy kind of indy promotion he should have been debuting on himself :/

Re: CMPunk MMA commentator

Don't forget Anik is a PLAY BY PLAY. He reads ads and makes general comments and shit and the occassional technique talk here and there. But most of it goes to the color commentator such as Rogan.
