Shinsuke Nakamura On His Position In WWE: Im Living With It

Quote:
n an interview with J Sports in Japan, Shinsuke Nakamura talked about his position in WWE, noting that he felt he had done everything there is to do in Japanese wrestling, which is why he jumped to WWE, and that he is living with his position in the company (quote is translated from Japanese by Google).

Since I became a professional wrestler when I was 22 years old, I was able to come here without looking back. In 2015, there was a feeling that I had done [everything I could do] in the Japanese ring, and I still wanted to keep trying. As the next step, we aim to raise one step further, and take one step to the area we have not touched before. The place for the challenge was WWE. Even now, the situation changes daily, and my position is up and down everyday, and I am living with it.

Nakamura is set to headline WWEs upcoming June 28th and 29th shows in Japan against Seth Rollins.

"I'm living with it"

You can practically hear him screaming out to Tony Khan

He is already regretting renewing his contract

Sometimes I get the feeling the Japanese wrestlers are probably talking a lot more with each other about the state of the company and their positions than they let on publicly.

Nakamura seems like the guy that left NJPW to wine his career down in WWE, which is what hes been doing the last number of years.

Last I knew he was going to be a free agent this year. And I dont know if hes already re-signed or not. But if I had to guess I dont think hes sweating it either way.

I won't read too much into it, things carry different meanings when translated. We as fans expect him to hate his status but he's making a shit ton of money to do very little almost no work.

Why not make a couple million dollars while healing up and surfing in America, then do one last run back home?

Wasted potential by a wide margin he's still got plenty left in him, I miss Babyface Nakamura he had such unique appeal at that time.

It's true that he's phoning it in more, but he still works a ton of matches every year in house shows, and that wears on the body even if you give only the minimum of effort. It's especially dismaying when a majority of them don't happen on TV. I think last year he was in the top 5-7 people in the company in most matches worked in 2018.

House shows wouldn't be so bad if the attendances were better too. I think a lot of people liked doing house shows when crowds were better. Today they aren't. So it's probably quite depressing to be wrestling in places where only 1000 people show up and you're not on TV or pushed strong either.

His position is just depressing. The WWE is the worst working environment in the galaxy, they should burn in fucking hell.

Translation: I thought WWE would be a better challenge for me than NJPW and then I realized quickly that my status goes up and down for no reason so I'm basically just coasting for a paycheck until my contract runs out.

Re: Shinsuke Nakamura On His Position In WWE: Im Living With It

Nakamura and all other Japanese wrestlers have a certain ceiling in WWE and I'm sure they knew it going in. They're never going to be top stars. Maybe that'll be a tougher pill to swallow for the younger ones but Shinsuke is winding down his career. He sounds okay with how things are.
