Kofi Kingston Doesn’t See a New Day Breakup on the Horizon

Quote:
– Kofi Kingston says that despite his WWE Championship win and Big E’s injury, he doesn’t see the New Day splitting up soon. Kingston spoke with TMZ Sports for a brief interview discussing his WrestleMania win and the New Day’s status. You can see the video below.

Asked about his thoughts on his win, Kingston said, “It’s crazy man. It’s still very strange for me to hear that, but it’s the truth. That’s the life that we’re living right now and it’s a good life if you ask me.” Kofi smiled.

Kingston was also asked what he would say to those who believe the New Day’s time is done after WrestleMania. “I don’t know understand that, man,” he said. “I don’t understand why people say that. We’ve said it since the beginning of time. Like, the philosophy of the New Day has always been to lift your brother up. So that is the goal. I think the stereotypical path to take [is that] you see all these factions and when somebody has success, one of them goes off and does something on their own or someone wants success, one of them goes and does something on their own. That’s very typical. Anything about New Day — if anyone has seen New Day on TV or whatever, everything that we do is atypical. You know what I’m saying? We come out, we skip, clap, I twerk, I wear unicorn horns, we wear pink and blue, we go out there, we throw pancakes out, we like ice cream and we have Booty-O’s. Everything that we do, it’s not your typical story. So, for us to break up, that would be like doing the opposite of New Day and doing the standard fare, and from that aspect alone it just won’t happen. So, everything we do, we do together. Like you saw in our vignettes, we talked about together. Good little callback. Together, together, together. Go back and watch it or maybe not. Or probably not, they are probably not the best thing to watch but the New Day is all about the group and that’s the way it’s going to be…we ain’t going nowhere but to the top!”

Everyone expects Big e to come back and either screw Kofi or attack him. But I kinda see the opposity possibly happening. Maybe Braun Strowman is beating the hell out of both Kofi and Xavier for 6 weeks. And Big E returns to a big pop.

I think the Big E injury is delaying the inevitable with the New Day. A Big E heel turn would be the best thing for all parties.

In the past, Bret Hart wore pink as part of his ring attire and gave away free sunglasses to certain children. Conversely, The New Day feature pink sometimes in their ring attire and give away free pancakes to the fans. Yet, they're the ones who receive criticism from certain fans and have to deal with speculative talk of why The New Day should disband or why Langston will turn heel and turn on Kingston. Furthermore, D-Generation X (Michaels and Hunter) were like privileged fraternity boys who were literally a joke. And certain fans ate that baloney up. Double standard? Indeed.

What The New Day do, their behavior is tame by comparison. Although it's harmless, I dislike it whenever they gyrate and twerk because it's inappropriate for children who are their fans too. However, it was funny that one time when Bayley tried to gyrate in the same manner that they do. How is she not their fourth member?

In my opinion, Woods and Langston need Kingston more than he needs them. That is to say, Kingston was popular with fans in singles competition. On the other hand, we've yet to see Woods soar in popularity by himself, and Langston's singles run was a failure since his Intercontinental title reign was unmemorable. Moreover, Woods tends to be somebody's partner from story-line to story-line as opposed to having a legitimate singles run. This was the case in TNA and now the WWE. In other words, he's a serious question mark. And his look doesn't write a convincing gimmick for him like Langston. Also, like Balor, Woods and Langston are short. However, let's not nitpick about things that are out of their control. Regardless, The New Day could be a rare instance of a clique that doesn't disband. Maybe they don't compete for the Tag Team titles for years. That is, Kingston, Woods, Langston and Cesaro are examples of wrestlers that don't have anything left to prove in the tag team division. Perhaps, The New Day will someday be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a trio. In my opinion, they wouldn't have it any other way.

Kofi Kingston is the first African-born WWE champion as well as a Triple Crown champion and a Grand Slam champion

"The Bundle of Sticks

My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this bundle, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

"Agree to disagree - to agree not to argue anymore about a difference of opinion." -Merriam-websterdotcom

"Do what you feel in your heart to be right--for you will be criticized anyway. You will be damned if you do, and damned if you do not." -Eleanor Roosevelt

"Always be yourself. Don't be a lemming. Don't just follow the crowd. Be an individual."

I'm shocked the Usos and The New Day never broke up.

WWE has never been able to keep teams together in the long term.

Re: Kofi Kingston Doesn’t See a New Day Breakup on the Horizon

Are the New Day the longest running stable without a break up in WWE history at this point? What's it been like 6 years?

DX broke up temporarily, NWO did, Evolution did. I think New Day may have lasted the longest without breaking up and re-forming.

I think that is the main reason why people want them to break up. I think Wrestling fans have witness the great factions that ever existed; eventually break up. And The New Day themselves know that everyone wants them to follow the trend. But everything they have done up to this point has gone against what everyone expected. No one expected this faction to last. WWE Wrestlers told Kofi that this was career suicide.

The New Day works well. Kofi isn't the best on the microphone and I was so frustrated that he wasnt popping off to Daniel Bryan like I wanted him too. But I get it now... They compliment each other.

And another point I was like to add to all of this is that not every WWE wrestler's career needs to be verified by their singles career. If New Day are guaranteed to be HOFers; then they know their lane. And this magical ride they are on as a faction; they will continue to pursue milestones that no one saw coming. That is why Xavier was so emotional. He is aware of how many people to this day, still doubt this faction and try to limit their possibilities.

Kofi's push to a title wouldnt have been made without the New Day. And three black wrestlers having political pull in that locker room and with Vince. Naw, they good lol

Yeah - they beat Wyatts record of 1353 days together last year.

So they are well out in front.

Think top 5 is:

1. New Day - 4 years and 9 months.
2. Wyatts - 3 years and 7 months.
3. DX - 3 years and 2 months.
4. Evolution - 3 years and 11 days.
5. The Authority - 2 years and 8 months.
