Is it time to admit that Rollins sucks in the ring? Well it's either that or it's Vader time and it sure as hell ain't Vader time.

People blaming Rollins for not selling the injury but if we are being honest, this was down to the road agents and Vince himself.

For me, seeing Rollins overcome the injury and win would’ve been a sweet ass moment. He would’ve developed that “never give up attitude” without needing to speak.

If Rollins comes out taped up tonight then I have lost hopes completely. Even Ricochet did a better job at selling that leg injury.

Literally, everybody did. Well.. not everybody... everybody but me :P. Nobody was running around complaining how 'fake' his selling of the knee was.

It's like saying that a baseball pitcher giving up home runs all the time isn't a big deal.
And you can keep trying to equate Rollins not selling to the inability to be able to sell just kind of invalidates you.

Even the core concept of this thread.. that Rollins 'sucks in the ring' is hilarious. Now, granted he narrowed his moveset and workrate after the injury(and i'm quite sure at the promotion's behest), but simply saying that means someone is completely ignorant of Rollins's run since he broke The Shield. The motherfucker would take a dive over the top rope to the outside and land on his feet. Would jump off the top rope into an F5. Shit... the curbstomp reversal into an RKO @ WM is a thing of legend. This is a guy that could do a Phoenix splash if needed and most guys his size wouldn't even consider it.

He can roll with anyone, anytime... even the technical guys like Styles or Bryan. I'm quite sure if you put him in there with Ricochet, he'd hold his own with Flippy McFlipper.

And make no bones about this.. if he were ever to come free, AEW would be on him like white on rice. The guy is a top-tier talent, and if you don't believe that you can take your opinion, which is worth about as much as a ten cent taco, and shove it. I mean, they went after Ambrose and that guy is mid-tier at best anywhere else.

Re: Is it time to admit that Rollins sucks in the ring?

Reading through this thread has made me realise why I never really connect to a Rollins match. The dude is really great at doing moves for sure and can make other guys look good by carrying them through sequences that you probably wouldn't associate with someone of Rollins size. However, that is all Rollins is doing, moves. There is no actual psychology with the moves, no selling or acting, he is just hitting the move in a vacuum of function, like a robot cycling through the basic instruction. So while as impressive as some of his spots are, because he is never telling a compelling story with the moves, all you get is base spectacle and nothing else.

Re: Is it time to admit that Rollins sucks in the ring?

Real question why do Seth fan always defend him with crowd reaction argument. Why does it matter when debating their abilities? I have never seen that argument outside of wrestling. Fans don't argue which actor gets louder reaction in theaters (e.g. Captain America gets bigger reaction than Thor in theaters so Evans is better than Hemsworth). Nor do fans of artists argue who gets louder screams at concerts. (Bieber gets "louder" reaction than Paul McCartney so Bieber is superior?)

Re: Is it time to admit that Rollins sucks in the ring?

If not selling meant someone was a bad wrestler why are Strong Style wrestlers or any indie wrestler who gets back up after a pile driver, 27 Super kicks or a Canadian Destroyer so popular?

5 years ago Bret Hart said Rollins was great except he lacked in-ring psychology.

Re: Is it time to admit that Rollins sucks in the ring?

Not just Rollins, but this entire way of wrestling.

Everybody is after Meltzer ratings.

Focused on the next spot, going out there looking like a dance rehearsal.

No selling, just to get to the next super dragon driver 450 corkscrew douchebag flip. Then kick out.

Watering down of moves just so the current match can have all the cool stuff thrown in. Repeat.

This shit needs to stop.

We need to go back to where a move took time and you the audience thought it hurt. DDTs matter. Body slams matter.

Strong Style wrestlers don't no sell. They power through the pain but they should be doing in such a way that its shows that they are still in extreme pain or that a body part of theirs are in extreme pain. No selling is when they just don't bother to show that they are in pain at all.

Popularity doesn't equal quality.

So they should realize that Meltzer's last five stars (which I remember) was Cody vs. Dustin, the complete opposite of what recent matches have been.
