The curious case of Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn seems pretty over for the most part, and while he isn't my cup of tea I can respect what people see in him. I saw something posted on Reddit this morning that made me think a little bit. Do you think Sami Zayn is being held back because he can't go to Saudi Arabia? Hear me out. I know WWE's deal includes the title being present at these shows, and with Zayn literally not aloud there it presents a problem. Other then his horrible look when he first returned (he has lost some weight since then), I can't think of anything else holding him back. He is good as a douche bag heel or an underdog role and it seems like has has been passed over for the new flavors (Ricochet, Black, etc.) Kinda seems bogus he can't win a title because of politics.

Re: The curious case of Sami Zayn

I don't think Saudi shows have anything to do with that. Remember, Daniel Bryan was champion for months, it was fine. If they wanted to put the title on him, they would've. They would've just make him drop it before the Saudi show and win it back after.

Saudi shows are irrelevant cash-grabs. NOTHING important ever happened there, and there were 3 at this point. They don't push Sami Zayn because he is not a priority, you don't need to find any other reason. They don't like him, that's pretty much it.

Well here's a counter question for you, because I don't believe Zayn is being held back because of his Syrian background. Are all the women in WWE being held back because they're blacklisted from Saudi events unless they cover their skin?

The issue here isn't entirely WWE holding someone back, it's that they saw dollar signs with a cheshire cat grin on their face, jumped head first into a pool full of sexist, corrupt money and later try to justify it by saying "we're hoping this changes in the next 10 years" because they still have 8 years remaining on a Saudi event contract.

The amount of people who have refused to attend these Saudi events because of the controversy surrounding their religious and political beliefs should answer that question for you. Zayn isn't being held back because Saudi Arabia don't like Syrians, he just can't get TV time because the roster is so bloated - and even if he could, what would you have him do?

Ricochet and Black who are leaps and bounds ahead of Sami when it comes to being over, ring ability, presence, the "it" factor, or any other buzz word WWE want to force you to believe in their earworm commentary.

I don't want to sound like a dick or be that guy, but news flash.. WWE is not a wrestling company. They are an entertainment company that cater to the parents of children who used to watch 20 years ago so they can get twice the ticket sales, merch sales and make themselves look good to shareholders and networks. Business is dirty.

Quite ironic how the dirtiest player in the game has actually been WWE all along.

I don't know how to multi quote so I'll go piece by piece. The women aren't there at all. They aren't effected by this as their champions aren't there either. It isnt relevant. I don't think WWE cares if things change over the next 8 years. They made a fortune and it really only effects Sami and the women's roster (who they have done other things with or given time off to during the events)

The people who refused to attend the event are all big enough to the point they need to protect their brand. Also, Roman eventually went because WWE is his brand. Cena is his own brand these days, and Bryan is attached to the Bellas and can't have that bad press. (Listen, say whatever you want about how talented he is but he will always be connected with the Bellas who are just more mainstream popular)

Ricochet isn't 1/2 the wrestler Sami is and like I said I'm not even a Sami guy. I don't know enough about Black yet to comment on him.

WWE has always been dirty. I don't care about their blood money contract. I just find it interesting that Sami is the only person being negatively effected by Saudi Arabia. He had a storyline going prior to the last trip which was abandoned because he just couldn't go. This isn't an ethics post.

Re: The curious case of Sami Zayn

they have way too many people for 5 hours of tv, only the real stars (lexi, bryan, kofi, reigns, rollins and now becky it seems) are there week in week out. everyone else gets rotated in and out. i have no doubts sami will eventually be ic title or thereabouts on the card.

number 1 fan of The Face Of WWE™ alexa

Alexa Bliss - global megastar, Tag team Champion, future first ballot hall of famer and Undisputed SD and RAW champ. watch out becky, shes gonna take your crown.

(sigh) oh, Alexa, how magnificent you are. Don't you ever get tired of being so perfect?

I also support BlissCross, the current tag team champs her and Nikki!

I don't think it has much to do with Saudi. Biggest reason I this is because they didn't do much with him before the deal was in place.

Sami, like many others, is a victim of WWE creative and Vince.

"I will say it because I am trying to quell the burning in my heart--I hate Vince Russo. I despise Vince Russo. I want Vince Russo to die. If I could figure out a way to murder him without going to prison, I would consider it the greatest accomplishment of my life." - Jim Cornette

"To be the man, you gotta beat the man" - Ric Flair
