In terms of putting on great matches Shawn and Bret are in a league of their own... but due to Shawn's longevity I'd have to give him the nod of best wrestler of all time.... although I should say best wwe wrestler of all time seeing as I don't watch any indie promotions, japanese wrestling promotions et al....

I think it's too simple to call just one guy the greatest of all time. I don't even have a personal favorite tbh (although Kane was my favorite when I was a kid). There are too many different styles and variables to compare every single guy and call just one of them the best ever. For example, I love both Kurt Angle and The Rock, but they're both good in different ways, so it would be hard for me to say one is really better than the other.

Simple for me, yes.
Most memorable matches, amazing on the mic, amazing charisma, good heel and good face. A true legend and the greatest to ever step foot in a wwe ring, just my opinion

He is definitely top 10, but based off the FACTS from his runs in the mid 90's and even his run in 2002, the guy was never a draw for whatever reason. And that effects his resume as the best ever.
Apart from that, as a complete package there is very few who come close, but I still say some other guys still have him beat out.

IN MY OPINION...yes 
He's my favorite wrestler. He's the complete package, has put on some of the greatest matches in history and will certainly go down as one of, if not the best ever. So imo, yeh he is. Although it's different for everyone.
As for the 'draw' stuff that seems to always come up. He maybe didn't bring in massive television audiences in an era that was going up against an unbeatable WCW :side: but he did, draw big live events audiences. And that's still being a draw.

I absolutely feel that he is the best. He had the total package. He could go out as either a heel or a face and steal the show everything. he is the best big match wrestler ever. Whenever he is expected to put on a great match, he goes above and beyond what is believeable. I feel that in the wrestling industry, HBK Shawn Michaels has no peers.

He is the best in ring performer as they say. For his amazing in ring wrestling skills & charisma.

I thought this was based purely on in-ring ability - if you include all aspects of what it means to be a great wrestler then it might be closer but he'd probably still be my number one.
Some things that Michaels is genius at:
Making the big moments count - dropping an elbow from the top rope in theory isn't that impressive but HBK made it so through his emotion, build up and execution.
BODY LANGUAGE - Shawn sells shock, frustration and excitement brilliantly and this is one of the reasons why he has so many great matches with his ability to just absorb you into the heart of the action.
BUILDING SYMPATHY - Shawn is a tremendous babyface in peril, able to take a hell of a beating and making it seem like his body is lifeless.... his comeback then becomes all the more satisfying.
