The amorous French skunk Pepe Le Pew won’t be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel to “Space Jam.”

The news comes shortly after a New York Times columnist claimed the animated skunk featured in Loony Tune cartoons “perpetuates rape culture,” according to Deadline.

I don't know how much more I can deal with this stupid SJW cancel culture

Elmer Fudd is cruel to animals. Cancel him.

Porky Pig offends people who stutter and fat people. Cancel him.

Daffy Duck and Sylvester offend people with lisps. Cancel them.

Wile E. Coyote is excessively violent. Cancel him.

Foghorn Leghorn is a Southern stereotype. Cancel him.

Yosemite Sam represents reckless gun use. Cancel him.

Marvin the Martian is wearing blackface, maybe? Screw it, cancel him too.

Fuck it, just cancel them all. Culture has gone off a cliff.

I think it goes like this now.

Somebody or a couple people bring up stupid shit like this. Instead of ignoring it, the entirety of social media goes bananas about it, mostly saying that its dumb for this of all things to be cancelled, and then you get like some SJW Warriors too. Then whatever company actually does cancel said thing because of the attention.

You could skip all these steps by just ignoring these people. I don't understand why people keep starting a professional outrage train where people get outraged at people getting outraged or triggered. It's like so many goddamn people have nothing better to do.

The thing is that the criticism starts with some columnist for a well known publication and there's a solid chance it will go viral and potentially be more trouble than it's worth for the studio. So the PR team just goes fuck it let's not take the risk and the studio folds.

The crazy thing to me is..... Doesn't it show that that kind of behavior is bad? Pepe le pew acts acts like a creep and never gets the girl. It's essentially the same as Johnny Bravo. It shows kids that they are buffoons and not the way you're supposed to act.

But I guess people should be protected at all costs. Children and adults can't be exposed to anything that would be considered "problematic".

Bugs Bunny shows the stereotype that transgender women are really trying to trick straight men.

Nah it is actually a marketing gimmick now. Make up some fake outrage and get people that usually don't buy your product buying them to support anti-cancel culture. People that believe in stupid conspiracies are easy marks. Now this silly skunk that nobody ever cared about suddenly has a market.

Interesting, good point. There's nothing that can't be monetized it seems. Depressingly. The other thing is it gives more ammo to shrieking anti-pc youtubers.

Controversy creates cash. There are easy marks from both sides of the political spectrum. Nike sell 'woke' overpriced shit to dumb liberals. Goya beans sell cheap beans to dumb conservatives.

The weirdest fking thing is people bitching about cancel culture over 'it is just a cartoon' can't find the irony of themselves getting outrage over just a cartoon themselves. They are being told to be outraged over a cartoon and unironically call others sheep.

Why not just give the character some sensitivity classes and be done with it

it would certainly be more character development than he ever got, lets be honest

Eh, that's a sweeping generalization. My lady and I are bothered by this (not outraged, but bothered) because our kids like the Pepe character and would surely love to see him in Space Jam 2. We don't feel that way because we were "told to be" upset.

If you give this much of a shit, either way, about a cartoon skunk that this causes outrage within you then you're a moron who needs to drastically assess your priorities in life.
The hypocrisy is people loved (not me) loved and promoted that derogatory WAP song by hoe Cardi B but look to cancel a cartoon skunk, smh

Apples and oranges tho .. the two bitchafied situations are different

There are those that outraged by the actions of humans (The people bitching about the cancel culture), and then there are those who are outraged by the actions of a fucking cartoon (the cancel culture bitching about Pepe)

That's like me taking a child's doll then justifying it by saying "It's only a doll". The outrage isn't about the doll itself, but me ruining someone else's experience through bullying

Some people wanna make the world less fun for the sane ones, I kinda understand there being a refuting wave against these people

You kids have weird taste in cartoon. They could do a retcon on the character for kids like yours but I think it would be just easier for WB to not include it in future work since it is such a minor character.

The irony is lost on you because both sides are bitching over a stupid cartoon. One side is bitching over kayfabe while another side is bitching about the people bitching over kayfabe. None of it is that serious enough to warrant the outrage and all of it is to score virtue signaling points.

Weird you brought up dolls because anti-cancel culture nonsense around Mr Potato head was a big issue recently as well. Almost like the pundits are pushing an agenda to get people outraged over nothing.
