I just watched Triple H's new dvd and I found it funny how they glossed over this match and didn't mention how he lost the belt just one month after beating Jericho at WM 18 to Hogan. I don't blame WWE for doing it tho because Hogan was very popular at the time in 2002 getting amazing pops. What surprises me though is people barely remember this feud. Maybe because how short it was but I remember at the time I really enjoyed it and it was a nice moment seeing Hogan become WWE champion again. I just wish they could of had another match. Here are some prime examples of their feud that showed they had great chemistry :

So I am very curious what you guys thought of their short feud and if Hogan going over at Backlash was the right call at the time. Like I stated before I wish their feud could of continued.

Yeah they were of course Hogan was past his prime but then again he was never the most technical guy in the ring he just had the ability to draw the fans into the match and make the atmosphere so electric. His 2002 run was so great and showed he really wasn't that selfish as ppl make him out to be. As I recall he jobbed to Rock, Angle, , Taker, Lesnar all in that year.

Undertaker's match with Hogan was much better. And they skipped a lot of things and feuds in HHH's DVD, not just this. No mentions of HHH's feuds with Angle, Hogan, HBK (surprised by this), Goldberg, Benoit and the whole Evolution chapter was pretty short. Nothing about turning on Orton, Batista's breakout or the nail in the coffin when HHH and Flair feuded. I don't remember anything being said about the Cena feud in 06 either. They just went over Evolution briefly then skipped to the DX reunion instantly.

I enjoyed this feud. I didn't even grow up as a fan of the WWF in the 80's (only started watching in late '96) but even I marked out back then for the Hulk Hogan Nostalgia Run. And even though I loved seeing Triple H return from his quad injury and win the championship (although his feud with Jericho was piss poor IMO), I loved seeing Hogan win it one last time even more. Just a bit of trivia here, but by Hulk Hogan winning the championship and winning it here, that makes him on record the last ever WWF Champion and the first ever WWE Champion (in name, although yes, I'm aware that it's the same title linage) since he was the title holder when the company changed it's name from WWF to WWE in May of 2002. It also occurred on the last ever PPV promoted under the WWF initials. I guess there's also some irony in Triple H, the future owner of the company, being the guy that he beat for it.

Talk about a story book ending for the Hulkster. It's also one of the reasons I never wanted him to win the TNA World Championship (putting aside how awful it would be to have an extra old guy win the top belt in a company full of much younger and hungrier talent) because I thought for all the aforementioned reasons that this would be the perfect last world championship win for him.

Hulk Hogan just had one the biggest matches of his entire career and the epic return of Hulkamania and who is right there as soon as it happens to face him? :HHH

Kinda reminds me of Daniel Bryan defeating the face of the company in John Cena and the Summer of Punk and who is there thrusted into the spotlight? :HHH

Don't remember much about the feud but the match was horrific. Hogan had blown all his cookies with Rock at WM and couldn't or wouldn't bring along his working boots to this or the next month with Taker (which was a candidate for worst match of O2 imo).

Unfortunate too, that HHH was not the wrestler he once was and couldn't really pull a good match out of Hogan. Could not understand anyone calling this a good match.

What was pretty cool though was HHH barging in on RAW the next night after losing the title and beating the piss out of Taker.

The ass kissing is pretty strong in the HHH DVD. I don't think I've seen this much ass kissing in any other WWE DVD :HHH2

During the span of 2002-2003, I feel Hulk Hogans run is underrated.

Hulk Hogan gave us a lot of matches we dreamt of happening and some extras

Hogan against

Undertaker (their 3rd ppv meeting)
Kurt Angle
Triple H
Chris Jericho
Brock Lesnar
William Regal
Ric Flair

Tag Matches and more...

Too bad Austin refused to wrestle Hogan to give us the Ultimate Dream Match. HOgan even offered to do the job...

HHH's face run in 2002 was dreadful. It was just a total ego trip. The way Jericho was booked against him was a disgrace. They went out of their way to make Jericho look weak and incompetent. And if you read Jericho's book, HHH had a little to do with it.
I marked out like a motherfucker when Hogan took the title of him in 2002. BROTHER!!!
