I've been watching since I was about 10 years old in the mid-late 90s.

I just was watching RAW and there was a backstage interview. Raw is live. Long story short, the wrestler messed up.

Aren't interviews and stuff that are backstage shown on the screen at the arenas?

So, why not just pre-record them so no mistakes are made and it's perfect?

Or is there an actual reason that they're live?

I've always wondered this. It's probably partly to give the thing genuine intensity, because there's more pressure on doing it perfectly. Also when guys like The Rock would do backstage interviews he still interacted with the live audience. In the age of things being so heavily scripted, though, I don't know.

I reckon SOME are/have been.

I do think it's for a 'genuine' feel though. Maybe Wrestlers can get into their character more if everything they're acting is acted out chronologically. For example tonight, Cena's backstage skit with Lesnar, he might have felt more emotion after he had that little brawl with Lesnar.

Also, it's probably so wrestlers can play off the reactions of the crowd. The Rock is a good example of this, when he pauses to when the crowd start chanting etc.
