Millie McKenzie Reportedly Turned Down WWE/NXT UK Offer

Quote:
– UK wrestler Millie McKenzie turned down a deal from WWE earlier this year, according to a new report. The WON reports that McKenzie, who has worked for a variety of promotions including Sendai Girls, Pro Wrestling: EVE, PROGRESS, and FIGHT CLUB: PRO, turned down the offer as she wanted to continue working for Sendai Girls in Japan.

McKenzie worked three shows for the NXT UK brand in 2018, including the NXT UK Women’s Tournament where she lost to Jinny in the first round. She has mostly been working with Sendai Girls this year.

I thought this was pretty common knowledge last year when it happened. Best decision for her and I wish a few other talent would believe in themselves enough to do the same.

Suplex Millie is 18-19yrs old. Too young to be sucked up by the WWE machine. She gets to travel the world and work her own schedule and learn different styles. WWE wants her, and everybody else, just to keep her from everybody.

WWE roster is ridiculous right now, and so easy for talent to be benched and forgotten and wwe will keep paying them to do nothing.

I think it depends on the talent really, someone like Millie could be a Toni Storm with more seasoning and more miles under her belt. She's that talented and the likes of WWE and AEW will come back calling for her in a few years anyway. If she signed right now she be like a Xia Brookside a lower card worker not really been used and not fulfilling her potential.

Millie is working in Japan with Meiko Satomura and tours plenty in Europe and UK. So she shouldn't be in any rush right now to be another talent on NXT UK.

I agree I wish more talent didn't just see WWE as the end goal to their career, with AEW, Impact and great Joshi scene in Japan. But i suppose a lot of the indie talent out there would be happy working the odd TV here or there, working more on Live shows, munching on WWE craft services and just picking up a check. We need to face facts on that.

I don't quite understand the headline. If WWE signed her, she would obviously go to NXT UK, so what am I missing?

Spoiler for GOAT Meeting:

Millie doesn't need to sign with WWE right now. She's only 18/19 years old, yet already really damn good for her age. Five years in developmental is a long time for someone so young I imagine. And she's training with Meiko Satomura, one of the top 3-4 best women wrestlers in the world, perhaps even THE best. She's doing just fine.

Plus there's nothing to stop her from maybe signing with WWE later on, or AEW, or Impact, or staying in Japan, etc if she wants to. And if she hones her craft and makes herself a bigger star, then she can get a better deal for herself as well probably.

re: Millie McKenzie Reportedly Turned Down WWE/NXT UK Offer

Are the British Strong Style boys or the NXT UK folk going to be passive aggressive with their insults (given by Gabe/Hunter) and shame her for not signing the NXT mark contract to be free? Fucking GEEKS.

Good for her. She's young and talented. Let her hone her craft and explore her options without having to worry about a five-year contract clinching her down.

All the time in the world. Keep doing what she is doing for 3-5 years, see what the landscape of the wrestling world is like then, and you will still be plenty young enough to have a long and distinguished career in a major wrestling organization.

I was wondering where she was at, but despite what fun I can get from NXT UK out of seeing the local talent get their shine on that stage, I'm glad she's not swallowed up by the system either. Such a great talent at such a young age, let that keep on growing. Tons of wonderful potential with her out there, can't wait to see it keep going.

Right now for Millie, I don't think NXT UK is the place to be for her. Far too much talent there, it's without doubt the most stacked women's division in WWE and the best. Look at someone like Xia Brookside, she's not growing as a talent with her signing there at such a young age.

Millie can afford to give herself 5 years on the indies and in Japan before she jumps into WWE or AEW or wherever. She will be in demand anyway.
