They were also saying TNA would succeed and "hurt" WWE back in the day. We all saw how well that worked out.

Tony Khan is a mark with a few million dollars his daddy gave him.

Dixie Carter was a mark with a few million dollars her daddy gave her.

Cody is a bitter WWE reject who feels he's above the mid-card

Jeff Jarrett was a bitter WWE reject who felt he was above the mid-card.

How could anyone not predict that AEW can go the way of TNA? I don't want AEW to flop, but vanity projects spearheaded by WWE rejects and financed by marks have a history of failing. How is Tony Khan going to be any better of a business person than Dixie?

While I do think aew will be closer to chikara than wcw, I dont understand all the blind hate it gets. If you feel fans are delusional for thinking aew will succeed how is this hurting you? You should want them to succeed even if you're a die hard wwe fan. Their success is just gonna push wwe to put on a better product. Better treatment and pay for your favorite athletes. Stop and think about this for a second

WWE is too big to fail.
The government would bail them out like a bank before that happened.

I'm just pumped to have an alternative with production value.
WWE is pure garbage and won't change.

My newborn is finally sleeping and I'm just chilling here so I'll take a good crack at this.

Dixie and Tony both seem to have benefited from inheriting their riches but the similarities end there.

Dixie earned her degree from the University of Mississippi,an institution famous for its party atmosphere rather than its academics. Must be where she learned to be spit roasted as Scott Hall alluded to. Anyway,US News and World Report ranked it as 152.

She sought ownership of TNA because of WWE's success and "potential in the marketplace". So it was purely money driven. Her subsequent decisions reflect that. Throwing money (and herself literally) at Hogan, hiring every WWE reject imaginable and as it were, providing an embarassing product. She allowed a six sided shit ring when the talent did not take kindly too as it was stiffer than the normal 4 sided ring. I mean even signing off on that cringy fucking name TNA. That was mistake numer one. I could go on...

Tony Khan on the other hand earned his degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign,a school that has actual academic accolades and is ranked by US News and World Report at 46. Big difference, people actually know their shit there.

He's in the business because of his love for wrestling. He knows he'll lose money on his first year or two,any business person can predict that. So I really get the impression that AEW isn't a vanity project, rather a childhood dream come to fruition.

AEW has a respectable image. The name is badass,All Elite Wrestling. Elite,THE BEST OF THE BEST. No Eric Roberts needed this time. The look is edgy, the names of their shows don't make me feel ashamed to say like Goddamn Great Balls of Fire,Pal. And with them declaring they'll be picky with talent, they're on the right track. Moving forward they should hire talent like Jon Moxley and Mercedes(Sasha Banks) not Tye Dillinger and Gail Kim,for example.

In summary,Tony is intelligent, loves professional wrestling and wants to see it go back to its glory days while Dixie is a dingbat who only got in because it was a business opportunity.

I honestly see great things for AEW. It's already passed shitty TNA/Impact and they haven't even started.

Re: I Love The Fantasy World Everybody Makes AEW Into

They haven't even had a television show yet and already have more people hyped for their promotion than anything WWE has put out all year.

That is enough to get me hyped.

For over a decade we finally have a promotion backed by a billionaire, with some of the best minds in the business working with it, some great workers, a potential huge TV deal and superb production value.

This is good for wrestling as a whole.

Re: I Love The Fantasy World Everybody Makes AEW Into

I'm a WWE lifer, that's nothing new and I've said it before. Always will be.

However, it's been obvious for a loooooooooooong time that it needs SOME form of competition from another company that will offer wrestling fans an alternative. Competition brings out the best in everybody, and wrestling fans are the ones who reap the benefits.

I really hope AEW is that alternative, and I'll be watching along with a lot of you.

Now that all being said, there are a ton of people who are indeed "counting their chickens before they hatch" when it comes to AEW. The enthusiasm is great, folks, but it's gonna be a slow burn if anything. Nothing happens overnight.
