How is Tony Khan going to be any better of a business person than Dixie?
My newborn is finally sleeping and I'm just chilling here so I'll take a good crack at this.
Dixie and Tony both seem to have benefited from inheriting their riches but the similarities end there.
Dixie earned her degree from the University of Mississippi,an institution famous for its party atmosphere rather than its academics. Must be where she learned to be spit roasted as Scott Hall alluded to. Anyway,US News and World Report ranked it as 152.
She sought ownership of TNA because of WWE's success and "potential in the marketplace". So it was purely money driven. Her subsequent decisions reflect that. Throwing money (and herself literally) at Hogan, hiring every WWE reject imaginable and as it were, providing an embarassing product. She allowed a six sided shit ring when the talent did not take kindly too as it was stiffer than the normal 4 sided ring. I mean even signing off on that cringy fucking name TNA. That was mistake numer one. I could go on...
Tony Khan on the other hand earned his degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign,a school that has actual academic accolades and is ranked by US News and World Report at 46. Big difference, people actually know their shit there.
He's in the business because of his love for wrestling. He knows he'll lose money on his first year or two,any business person can predict that. So I really get the impression that AEW isn't a vanity project, rather a childhood dream come to fruition.
AEW has a respectable image. The name is badass,All Elite Wrestling. Elite,THE BEST OF THE BEST. No Eric Roberts needed this time. The look is edgy, the names of their shows don't make me feel ashamed to say like Goddamn Great Balls of Fire,Pal. And with them declaring they'll be picky with talent, they're on the right track. Moving forward they should hire talent like Jon Moxley and Mercedes(Sasha Banks) not Tye Dillinger and Gail Kim,for example.
In summary,Tony is intelligent, loves professional wrestling and wants to see it go back to its glory days while Dixie is a dingbat who only got in because it was a business opportunity.
I honestly see great things for AEW. It's already passed shitty TNA/Impact and they haven't even started.
