Hi guys

Has WWE's NXT brand surpassed Ring Of Honor?

Re: Has NXT surpassed ROH

Not really fair, NXT is part of the WWE machine. Its a WWE show.

I remember hearing Meltzer say NXT cost a lot of money to produce. It wouldn't survive outside the WWE universe.

NXT is more popular and usually has better wrestling, but they lose money, ROH actually makes money

That is untrue. NXT is an investment into other parts of the company which is a huge success. NXT is not a separate company like ROH is.

NXT surpassed ROH long ago.

NxT loses money. In a business, like wrestling, money drawn is the highest and the best thing to judge a show.

Now, if you look at NxT as its own thing, it has not surpassed ROH but if you look at it as part of the WWE machine, then NxT has surpassed ROH : people leave ROH to go to NxT. And I personally go with the latter.

Unfair comparison. NXT isn't a separate entity of the WWE. The WWE has successfully created a third brand for their company that operates as a developmental system.

Re: Has NXT surpassed ROH

I see people saying that it's not a true comparison. Look if you want to deliver into the business side of things, by all means do that.

But I do believe it's fair to judge the quality of both shows from an in ring and creative stand point, especially since a lot of guys who have been in NXT were stand outs in ROH.

And from a creative, storytelling, and in ring perspective, NXT blows ROH out of the water currently. I mean ROH (and that may change soon) has basically become a platform for The Elite guys to let their stories play out on ROH TV. I watch it to see some good wrestling here and there but I'm hardly ever really invested in what I'm seeing. With NXT it's the exact opposite.

I can understand people saying it's unfair when it comes to production and presentation since NXT has the WWE machine behind it. But in terms of what most of watch wrestling for and that being the characters and the stories, NXT has been ahead of ROH for a long time.

Given that they are part of the WWE machine, NXT has the luxury of being able to cherry pick the very best talent. The fact that a huge lot of the NXT roster came from ROH is no coincidence. Besides being a developmental system for WWE, NXT is also clearly been established to compete for ROH's share of the market. And it isn't a fair battle when NXT can basically sign everyone they want with a name and some talent.

By my last count only 5 of the 40 or so talent that get regular enough time on nxt tv got any sort of push in roh down the years.

Nxt contracts are usually lower than what roh/TNA etc offer so it's not like people are joining nxt for the money. It's the opportunity.

Would ciampa/gargano/black/baszler/sane/dream etc be maineventing roh shows now if nxt didn't exist.. highly unlikely let's be honest.

Nxt doesn't lose money, pc does. One doesn't need the other to exist because nxt existed before PC opened and a training center doesn't need an accompanying tv show just as wcw power plant didn't have one.

As far as money drawn nxt easily outdraws roh annually. They run more shows and have been selling out (or drawing 10k+ crowds couple of times a year) NBA sized buildings since August 2015. The msg show next April is first time roh has played an NBA sized venue.
