I've already seen people comment saying they're flying in from Sydney, Adelaide and even New Zealand to be at MCW that weekend. But hopefully they do well, I just know that if I had to choose I would pay for a flight to Melbourne that weekend.

Re: Aussie Indy Wrestling

Didn't get to All-Star Wrestling, been in a bit of a bad way physically and decided to save my energy (and money) for Progress X PWA tomorrow night. Will do a little write up on that event in the coming days.

My pick of those matches is Caveman Ugg vs. Pete Dunne. Ugg is ridiculously good, and has fun with his gimmick while still being a serious threat in the ring. Interested to see how Dunne works with someone his size too.

Also, until tomorrow, PWA offers a 1 month free trial at PWAplay.com. Limited library, but what's there is good- inc. a bunch of stuff from Peyton Royce and Billie Kay pre-WWE for those Iconic Duo lovers. I just finished watching PWA's 10th Anniversary show Call To Arms, which features the Ospreay vs. Eagles match in my OP.

I actually was able to make this show! Was good to see some hard hitting wrestling with a touch of old school. Blakestone has to be one of the most impressive looking wrestlers in the country & Kingston Eclipse was amazing, Eclipse & Draven beat the shit out of one another. Solid show over all & looking forward to more shows in the gong & surrounding area.

Hey man, small world, three Wollongong folks on here.

I unfortunately was unable to make the show due to prior commitments but I will be going to upcoming events. Good to hear everyone worked hard!

MCW New Horizons. Friday 5th October.

Spoiler for .:

My first MCW show, they were smart in putting on a big show right before Super Show-Down. Didn't sell out in advance, I bought my tickets on the night as we got there. There was a massive line going down the block for the Thornbury Theatre, so I quickly jumped on my phone to buy a couple of tickets for me and my mate. I think by showtime it was sold out, with our GA tickets we only just managed to get a seat, it was packed with people standing. Good thing- with my CP there's no chance my legs would have survived standing the whole show.

Spotted Buddy Murphy up on the balcony, visiting his old stomping grounds to support his mate Adam Brooks. He left after Brooks' match.

Also spotted PWA Sydney wrestlers attending as fans- Matty Wahlberg, Ricky South and Facebrooke.

Filip Bros vs. TMDK (Damien Slater and Marcus Pitt) was the opener. Really crisp, technical stuff with a dose of high flying. Stevie won with a Shooting Star Press.

Kellyanne vs. Avary was fun. Never seen them before but Avary really impressed me with her ability and obnoxious character work. Quite attractive too. And Kellyanne was crisp. I had heard her rep beforehand and she lived up to it.

Slex vs. Adam Brooks for the MCW Intercommonwealth Championship was MOTN by far. It seemed that Slex was a heel and Brooks was the face, but the MCW regulars went ballistic for both so hard to tell. Brooks got the big victory.

Four way tag match, was my toilet break and I honestly had no idea who anyone was. Sorry.

Jonah Rock vs. Caveman Ugg was kinda short, but loads of fun. Damn, Jonah was probably the most over person on the whole card! Rock made Ugg tap to a guillotine, which was a little surprising- just that Ugg tapped, not that Jonah won.

Dowie James vs. Loverboy Lochy Hendricks. Didn't know either guy as they haven't really travelled up to Sydney, at least for any shows I've been to. But the MCW faithful gave Loverboy hell, mocking him with a persistent "NYAH" chant which was funny at first, but jumped the shark after a while.

Shazza McKenzie vs. Indi Hartwell was okay. They honestly had a much better match at the beginning of the year in Parramatta RSL. Crowd was a bit fatigued by this point.

MCW Heavyweight Championship- Gino Gambino vs. Robbie Eagles. Okay, if Jonah Rock wasn't the most over guy on the show, that award goes to Robbie Eagles. He woke the crowd up and an awesome main event occured between Eagles and Gambino. Eagles did a great job attacking the leg while still going for broke with the high spots. Amazing false finish with the 450 on the leg and then a kneebar (brilliant callback to Eagles vs. Ospreay II) last month. But Gambino's manager got involved, Gambino got in a title belt shot to the head, followed by two piledrivers.

All in all, loved my first MCW experience. The only minor complaint was that I might have shaved off a match or two, even the MCW hardcore fans seemed a bit worn out in the second half of the show. But Slex vs. Brooks and Eagles vs. Gambino were more than worth the $40 admission.

Speaking of Robbie Eagles...

Always knew he would make it big!

Next show for me, PWA Colosseum, Oct 20 in Sydney. An inter-state tournament to determine the best grappler in Australia. Exciting times for Aussie wrestling!

PWA Colosseum. 20/10/2018

Really fun show. Wasn't the classic that the Call To Arms was, but was still a great way to spend a Saturday night.

Spoiler for .:
Match 1: Unsocial Jordan def. Kyle Fletcher in a Colosseum Tournament Quarter Final Match

Goddamn. This was MOTN. I didn't know much about Fletcher, apparently he was a PWA "young boy", went to the UK, and this was his return to Australia. He went all out, intense and high risk. Jordan's SMS faction, with Snapchad and Facebrooke, reunited and helped Jordan get the cheap victory.

Match #2: Adam Hoffman wins a Battle Royal to become No. 1 Contender to the PWA Heavyweight Championship.

Match #3: Caveman Ugg def. Adam Hoffman in a PWA Championship Match

Hoffman was the heel, but I felt bad that he didn't even get a chance to catch his breath before facing Ugg. Ugg dispatches off him in a couple of minutes.

Match 4: "Full Force" Mat Rogers def. Mat Diamond and Jude "The Dude" London in a Triple Threat match. Good formula here of having Diamond and London work a fast, technical pace, with Rogers heading in and out for power spots. Really nice stuff until the finish, where London botches a springboard move twice and it's pretty messy to end the match.

Post-match- thankfully, London seemed okay. He asked Diamond to join his team the Velocities, which was accepted. He then extended an offer to Rogers to be their enforcer. He replied, "Fuck no, cunts", and left. PWA Black Label is 18+, ladies and gents!

Match 5: Jack Bonza def. AJ Istria in a Colosseum Tournament Quarter Final Match

Good technical wrestling, nothing spectacular. Can't actually recall the finish. I was getting distracted during the match due to crowd chants. Half the audience tried a "Let's Go Istria" chant, which REALLY drew the ire of a guy a few seats down from me, raging that it was too many syllables. Ah well.

Intermission- Matty Wahlberg destroyed a fan in a Beer Pong challenge, and took the time to verbally rip him a new one. Which was great, I've met this dude at a few shows and he's a very weird guy. Textbook neckbeard incel type. He got rid of one cup and tripped getting out of the ring. Glorious stuff.

Match 6: Fatal 4 Way between Marcus Kool, Madison Eagles, Michael Spencer and Snapchad. Will need to fill in details of this one later.

Match 7: Paris De Silva def. Ricky South in a Colosseum Tournament Quarter Final Match

Was meant to be Kellyanne, but she missed her flight, so Ricky was the late replacement. Both guys worked super hard, it seemed clear to me that they wanted to make up for the loss of Kellyanne. Fantastic battle, just a smidge below the opener for me. Paris hit a wicked DDT, followed by the Shooting Star Press for the win.

Match 8: Juan Direction def. The BABES (Wahlberg & Carter Deams) in a No. 1 Contenders Tag Match

Jax Jordan dyed his hair blonde to fit in with Wahlberg, but found himself replaced by the returning Deams. Juan Direction got a roll, Jax tried to get involved but inadvertently wiped Wahlberg out. Juan get what I consider an upset. The BABES are furious post-match and cut Jax's blonde locks in the ring.

Match 9: Mick Moretti def. Damien Slater in a Colosseum Tournament Quarter Final Match

Having a lot of trouble recalling specifics tonight. It was a well worked match, a shade below Fletcher vs. Jordan and Paris vs. Ricky, but I can't recall the finish.

Will come back to sort out details when I find them out. I attended the show but without official results to match up to, having trouble recalling everything at this late hour. Was a really fun show though, looking forward to the next one. I may be attending solo as my mate that I attend wrestling shows with is helping out his mate's band on the night of the next PWA show.

Next Up: PWA Black Label: Fridays Are For The BABES- Dec 7th.

Yep, Matty Wahlberg and Carter Deams lose their contendership match and wind up hosting the next event. Weird.

Re: Aussie Indy Wrestling

I've seen quite a bit of PWA around the place. I just can't get into it.

One of their shows featured a female wrestler throwing glitter at former World Women's Champion Madison Eagles and Jessica Troy. They then proceeded to slip and slide in it taking over exaggerated bumps and acting as if they were running on ice.

On that same show a wrestler hit a shooting star DDT only for Jack Bonza to completely oversell it and act like he was shot. Of course naturally he kicked out at just two.

My Saturday night was spent at All-Star Wrestling Australia in Dapto which is my local company since they run just one town over. Majority of the guys look the part and it's a more adult product with realistic hard hitting wrestling. The main event was a chain match and ended in perhaps the sickest chair shot I've ever seen in my life.

Re: Aussie Indy Wrestling

Fletcher coming home. Always wondered if he'd see any success in his homeland after he's made a good run for himself this early in his career while in the UK. Plenty of time to tell, but there's a lot of interest in seeing where he goes.

Jonah Rock expected to sign with WWE and report to NXT in January.

Nice choice. Jonah is a big man who is very agile for his size, but you won't see him doing twisted planchas. He can just kick your ass at double speed without slowing down. Seen him have some epic matches this year with Robbie Eagles and Caveman Ugg.

I've seen some of his stuff in PWG and Progress. He's a stout and physical wrestler. So he's a good signing for anyone.

Unfortunately (and maybe I'm being too pessimistic here) this looks like another case of WWE signing guys to sign guys and reduce the market as opposed to truly wanting someone. Hope I'm wrong.

Sorting through some old Rock N Roll footage now that the school year is just about up. The Rock'n Rumble match to come soon (hoping they do it again next month) and Emma's RRW debut.

Eagles and Wahlberg are two of my favourites. Wahlberg has come a LONG way since last January when this match happened (I don't think he had been wrestling a year at this point).
