NXT needs to move forward it has got stale.

This has been building for a while but the last Takeover was where it really felt that the same guys have been hanging around too long

The early Takeover shows was pretty much built on the format that the main stars whether it be the women's championship, NXT championship and tag teams would have there two or three takeover show run and then they would move up and clear the path for the next group. That kept the shows fresh as their was progression.

That conveyor belt has been stopped for a while now though, Gargano has been on every takeover show for the last 3 years and Champa would be right with him without injuries.

It's not the just those two though

Adam Cole
Undisputed Era
Shayna
Velveteen Dream
Gargano

All those guys have been on nearly every takeover the last two years, As good as they have been it's time to go.

To me the Survivor series Takover at the latest needs to be the blow off for most if not all of those guys (I would do some on the NXT TV show) and By the royal rumble Takeover the card needs to be fresh with guys who have not had their run yet.

It's Johnny's time to go up, even with NXT potentially going 2 hours. And as much I've liked Shayna in spots, her time needs to be done.

Cole and TUE should run NXT for awhile longer. They've become the backbone of the brand. Dream is a future NXT Champion and there's no need to rush him.

NXT needs to make better use of the guys they have on the sidelines and also, IMO, get out of Full Sail more often for TV.

It's because Vince is deathly afraid of firing anybody on the main roster to clear room. Even when there is a call up they're just added to the bloated main roster and not treated as anything special.

Rather than refusing to fire anybody out of fear they go to a rival company, he should fire 20 wrestlers at once and when 4-5 of them get picked up, the rest of the roster would take notice.

Velveteen Dream is the only one i think could stay past survivor series, have him beat Cole and then defend it up until the mania show and then go up.

The undisputed Era have been running NXT for a while already even though Cole only won the championship in June.

I don't think being the backbone of the brand for this long is good especially when all 4 are veterans who where big on the indies and new japan. It's fine when it was Bayley or Maybe the dream when they were up and coming who needed to grow and develop.

Been like that for three years now. It's long overdue and if they are going to extend it for two hours live on FS1 to compete against a hungry AEW, they have a LOT of work to do.

I run an anime-centric CAW league called Anime Championship Wrestling

Re: NXT needs to move forward it has got stale.

Gargano in the main event for 18 months straight has run it's course. Shayna being Women's champion is badly stale too. At least when Asuka killed the division she was entertaining, talented and actually putting on good matches, Shayna isn't doing any of those things.

The bright spark for me is the Velveteen Dream. He's just getting better and better with every match, and his character work is fantastic. He NEEDS to be the guy who beats Cole for the title.

They should move some guys who they arent using down to NXT. Rusev would be perfect, I think he lives in Florida too. He ain't doing shit on the main roster and could easily be a top face or heel in NXT. Would be cool to see guys like EC3 and Bobby Roode back too, again, two other who ain't doing shit on the main roster.

Re: NXT needs to move forward it has got stale.

I loved the #DIY 2 year long story. I think they adapted well after the Alister Black injury to keep the story going. Unfortunately Ciampa's injury accelerated Johnny's feud with Cole and I agree it feels like it has gotten stale. Johnny needs some time off. Maybe not a MR callup but he needs to be on a vacation for awhile. Hopefully Cole can start a new feud and it will actually be interesting. I like Shayna but she needs to move up. They should have given the title to Io last Takeover. NXT is fairly predicable but I have no clue where they are going with this. Dream should have dropped the NA belt to Roddy IMO. I get that since they hot potatoed the title they want a longer reign to build its cred back but he will probably drop it at Wargames to Roddy one on one so Dream can build his feud to take the title off Cole at Takeover Tampa.

Of course this is all subject to change once Vince gets his mitts on NXT creative when they go to FS1.

Imagine not ever being a fan of a lot of those guys. Iíve never been a fan of Cole, TUE (with the exception of Roddy), or Gargano. For the most part Iíve skipped the ME scene for quite some time. Last NXT champís matches I watched were Blackís.

I can see why some wouldn't be a fan of Cole, but what's so great about Roddy? At least Cole has charisma, Roddy's like a glass of water and just as bland.

Re: NXT needs to move forward it has got stale.

How long do people want Dream to spend in NXT. Everyone is all don't rush the guy but at this point is it really rushing him. He's spent the better part of the last two years being the most complete performer in NXT. I know there are a lot of people on here have a hard-on for years of service in wrestling as some sort of indication of a person's readiness but that isn't and shouldn't be the case. If you're good and have essentially outgrown a developmental platform then it's time to move on from that platform before your development stalls. Keeping him in developmental would have been like the Pittsburgh Penguins telling Sidney Crosby to start his career in the AHL he was already too good to be there so it is not beneficial for him to be there. Dream staying in NXT will only pad his star rating CV and that isn't necessary and there are guys on the main roster with high-end talent for him to work with on a larger platform. He would go from being the most complete performer(promos, in-ring, charisma, character, and look all five tools baby) to being able to learn from other guys with immense skillsets like Bryan or Joe or Orton, etc.

Plus with his age and skillset you can have a mulligan or two because he has both the time and talent to bounce back. He also has the time and talent that they can grow him in front of the larger audience organically.
