Both are screwed on the MR that's true I think Cole would thrive a little more than Gargano if they let him keep UE but he's not the prototypical wrestler that Vince liked and without the muscle mass and small stature I feel his time there will be short.

Then there are the NXT house shows that tour around FL and play small venues where seating may be 200-300. These are the guys you rarely see on TV. Usually they'll have one or two names from the nationwide tour on the card, but its mostly the guys they are trying to develop. I kind of think of this as the developmental part of NXT.
Yes I know but there was a time when you didn't have to be a 15 year indy vet to get on TV more than once every 6 months. There was a time when there were live mic promos so guys could actually get better on the stick, there was a time when you had to have a character beyond "indy legend who wants to be the best". Now NXT's only focus is on 5 star matches, they don't even try to make the stories make sense anymore. Why did Gargano as champion challenge Adam Cole to a rematch, even though he had already beat him clean in a 2/3 falls match? HHH went "I need a 5* match and there's nobody who has been built up to challenge Gargano so let's just do a rematch for no reason". That's why he booked Gargano/Ciampa at 57 straight Takeovers even though he completely lost the plot of the story halfway through, because all that matters is booking a match that smarks will jizz over.

I remember when people like Baron Corbin, Bo Dallas, Dana Brooke, Enzo and Cass, etc. were allowed on TO cards, because back then HHH knew that guys needed opportunities to improve; nowadays non indy vets are lucky if they can get a 5 minute match on a tv taping, let alone a fucking TO match, and the end result is HHH constantly having to sign new indy guys because he can't be added to build up anybody else.

I bet the next TO is going to be
Kushida/Breeze squash
Dream/ Strong
Street Profits/TUE
Shayna/Io
Cole/Riddle/Gargano

Because who else could you even put on the card who wouldn't require effort to build up?

Shilling for Xia Li, Aliyah, Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley

nxt has evolved beyond just developmental
with the introduction of championship belts, ppv, feuds and storylines even more in depth than the main roster its essentially its own brand now

Re: How long does Gargano, Cole etc really needs to be in developmental?

nxt seems to be more like velocity/superstars. most of these people aren't in need of a lot of "developing". they are just not good enough for the main show and in the rare event one of them is, he gets called up! better than working in bingo halls.

Forever. NXT is just the third brand. The performance center and the NXT live events are the developmental.

The main focus of NXT is clearly not developmental anymore. Sure there is still an element of that which is great, but the main focus is putting on an incredible show, maybe the best wrestling in the world.

Thats a good way to put it, cause on the live events and stuff you got alot of the newer talent on there trying out characters, teams being tested, guys finding their footing. So yeah even though Vince likely still views NXT as developmental and doesn't understand it the way we do.

I wish at a certain point guys wouldn't have to be "Called up" from NXT and some could just stay there and let NXT be like Raw and SDL, occasionally someone going from NXT to Raw or SDL like for the draft but other than that let guys stay on there. And only move certain guys onto Raw and SDL if theres a long term plan in place for them.
