It's like almost everyone has been saying for the longest time now. Match psychology means nothing to some people.

It doesn't even register in the top 50 WWE matches of all time. Dave Meltzer is an idiot.

Over-Choreographed high spot wrestling with zero believable "false finishes." Total garbage wrestling. You can take any 16 year old high school basketball player and they could learn to do this trash style with 6 months. It's not wrestling

That match was awesome, but I certainly wouldn't put it up there with the greatest WWE matches of all time. Hell, it was my second best match on the card to me.

It was the worst of Johnny's NXT matches on Takeover in recent years..

The feeling of relevance is completely subjective. To people who have been watching these guys for years this is completely relevant. Its all staged the relevance of something is how invested you are in it not the size of the stage

The last pin fall was realllllllly good, but that doesn't negate the first two which were slightly above average, I can name 10 I prefer and 2 Gargano matches I prefer more.

Top 5 Favorite All time:

1) Bore-us Malenko
2) "Iron" Mike Sharpe
3) Dink
4) Tugboat
5) Lightning Foot Jerry Flynn

Current Favorite:

1) Scarlett Bordeaux
2) Joe
3) Walter
4) Killer Kross
5) The Viking Experience (Not the War Raiders)

Re: Meltzer on the WOR: “The Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole match is perhaps the best WWE match of all time.”

The first 2 falls werent great but the last fall was awesome. It was an emotional match and it worked off the crowds emotions, as it should have. Psychology matters but part of psychology is getting you invested in something everyone talks about wrestling psychology like its only about making logical sense when the truth is a large part of the psychology is making you believe something is going to happen and feeding off of that as a story. People here talking like they know psychology when some of the best psychology matches were 80s and 90s AJPW matches and those run counter to what some peoples definitions are. A story can be told outside of the realm of logic as long as it is internally logically consistent.

I'm sure it was very good, but if it is up there with Austin vs. Bret and Shawn vs. Taker, I would be very surprised. I really doubt it would be as good as Angle vs. Michaels or some of Benoit's belters. I kind of admire Meltzer's positivity, and he has to cover a lot of wrestling, so he probably does need to bargain with himself, but I just don't buy that.

That's not true. You can literally measure relevance through metrics. Things like attendance, ratings and buys matter. It's a business about putting asses in seats (literally or as a figure of speech). I'm sorry, but 300,000 people or however many watched argue with your point about relevance. It can have a great personal meaning to you, and that's really cool, but the greatest movie of all-time is not your buddy's handheld camera comedy. It's just not.
