It was a very, very good match - despite some overkill near the end with the amount of moves hit on Gargano (though, that sorta stuff keeps you in suspense ). Just Dave talkin' crap again.

Those last few minutes ruined the match for me. Didn't go in rooting for anyone but man I hated Gargano in the end. Dude could have been shot in the head and still kick out.

The first two falls were meh, and the third one started out good, but became overkill before it was over. Johnny has had TONS of matches better than this one. Both as a singles wrestler in NXT, and in DIY. Mr. Takeover and it's not even close. Whoever is second, is second by miles and miles and miles..

This match was really good especially after the second fall where both men went all out my only problem is Gargano kicking out when he shouldn't have he realistically should have been done on multiple occasions.

He would say that...

He's a huge reason why WWE has taken a workrate oriented approach to current product.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't take account crowd, venue, storylines or things like that. He's rating the match for the work rate quality over anything, which is fine except he's brainwashed a generation of fans to enjoy wrestling in that manner as well and WWE have conformed to it. The wrestling isn't what draws fans imo

I don't think it's Dave's fault that WWE does what they do, but philosophically I agree with you here. I much prefer holistic approaches to evaluating a match, and I personally don't give out stars or anything. To me, I just know when something is great or works or when it doesn't.

That being said, I don't blame Dave for trying to make things interesting for himself. The dude watches so much wrestling.

Watched Gargano vs. Cole. I thought it was great. Not perfect or a timeless classic though. Got no desire to ever see it again. Meh.

The mark Meltzer gives Johnny G vs Cole 5 1/2 stars but too bad...

Johnny G looked like some generic mid carder for his cup of coffee on the main roster, and Big E botched one of his moves TERRIBLY at the RR. I get it's the RR and fuck ups happen but I am not convinced that Johnny G's style can translate when he has to fight hoss's like Strowman and he can only work with one style of opponent. If that's the case he's in trouble and will be regulated to mid card hell. Basement dwellers are saying he could be the next HBK....certainly hasn't shown me that on the mic or charisma wise, maybe in the ring but we gotta see him against some hosses and carry them to great matches similar to with what HBK did with Sid and Big Daddy Cool. Discuss.

Top 5 Favorite All time:

1) Bore-us Malenko
2) "Iron" Mike Sharpe
3) Dink
4) Tugboat
5) Lightning Foot Jerry Flynn

Current Favorite:

1) Scarlett Bordeaux
2) Joe
3) Walter
4) Killer Kross
5) The Viking Experience (Not the War Raiders)
