Crystal Ball Projections, Chapter 1: NXT (2019)

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to try something different to get a bit of discussion going here in the NXT section. As we all know, the depth of the NXT roster is stacked and that has now translated to Raw and Smackdown having the most stacked rosters in quite some time. However, I do not see this stopping the NXT train from growing and expanding in 2018. So, welcome to my first set of crystal ball projections for NXT in 2019, where I ask you to either comment on my thoughts or make projections of your own!

Note: What I place in bold will be my actual prediction, whereas with any surrounding text I will be considering the possibilities that relate to my bold prediction.

Here we go!

1.) EC3 will be in the main event of Takeover at WM 35 weekend. This guy is on track to being a superstar in NXT and I feel that he should spend some time on NXT to increase his stock before moving up to the main roster. I will not predict whether he will be champion or not by this time, but he will most certainly be in the main event. As for his opponent, I would like you guys to help me out here because Black and Gargano are most likely going to be called up. Thus, I will go with Adam Cole, who wins the title from Gargano towards the end of 2018 after spending the bulk of the year legitimising the NXT North American Championship.

2.) Kairi Sane will win the NXT Women's Championship. I think it's possible that Baszler goes undefeated for the next year to help establish dominance and this will make the moment more special. Again, I'm trying to not predict the actual matchups here as much as I am trying to predict the moments that will occur.

3.) There will be a massive signing for NXT, someone specifically from New Japan. Again, I am not going to say with 100% certainty who it is, but let's look at the possibilities. If Omega wants to come to WWE next year, I would have him do a one off at Takeover on Wrestlemania weekend against someone like Gargano, and then be immediately promoted to the main roster. As for others in New Japan, I am not as familiar, so that is an area where I would be keen to hear some of your predictions.

4.) Aleister Black will be called up sometime in 2018 and will compete at Wrestlemania 35. As for opponents, this is always hard. I'd like to see him against Rollins or Balor, but it's more likely that he is in a ladder match for the IC/US title or wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale.

5.) As for post-Wrestlemania call-ups, I think it's too far out to pick accurately because people get called up post-Summerslam or even post-Survivor Series, but a safe bet would be that The Undisputed Era shows up on Smackdown and targets Daniel Bryan.

EC3 and Adam Cole seemed to be primed to be midcard players in the division. I don’t see either winning the NXT title much less main event takeover.

Omega isn’t leaving without winning the IWGP heavyweight championship at least once. He’s too ambitious to let it go and if he did come, he’d get straight onto the main roster. And all the other big NJPW guys have almost no chance of going to NXT except for maybe Ibushi if after the match with Omega he decides he wants to try his luck in WWE.

I can tell the views on EC3 and Cole are mixed. I would be curious to hear who you believe has a chance of main eventing the Mania takeover next year?

The Omega prediction is very bold I must admit, hence I said it would be someone from Japan. Ibushi would also be a nice option. Who knows what other talent will have an uprising in Japan this year!

Adam Cole wins the NXT Championship off of Aleister Black at NXT Takeover: Los Angeles in November.

Aleister Black is called up right after his loss to Cole.

Dakota Kai becomes the next Bayley of the division.

Ricochet defeats Adam Cole for the North American Championship.

Rhea Ripley becomes a major heel in the division.

The Undisputed Era set the record for longest reigning NXT Tag Team Champions.

Roderick Strong becomes the UK Champion.

My only concern is the call up of EC3 and Aleister Black to the main roster but not until mid-late this year so I'd pass on EC3's inclusion at Takeover and have maybe Adam Cole vs Kenny Omega instead or imagine Okada if that was a possibility.

Idk but I think as soon as Black drops the NXT championship he will be brought up hopefully to Smackdown instead of Raw.

Its a bit hard to predict because NXT always has guys enterinf or leaving. But Iíd say Ricochet is confirmed to be in the main event next year. Guy was introduced as a big deal and has hit the ground running. As to who he faces, it can be anyone. Doubt its Gargano or Black since they wouldíve left by then. Velveteen Dream, Cole, EC3 and Sullivan are all possible candidates if they really step it up but currently, WWE views them all is midcarders. If not, then itíll be a big name coming in.

I don't see Omega coming to WWE until he wins the IWGP Heavyweight title plus he's too big a star to be wasted in NXT imo. He needs to be treated like they did AJ Styles have him debut on the main roster. Ibushi I can never see him been tied down to any company.

I see Black, EC3, Shayna debuting on the main roster after Summerslam.

I don't think Kairi Sane will win the NXT women's title. I think it be someone out of left field probably Candice.

I think Ricochet will beat Adam Cole for The North American Championship.

I think Ciampa will beat Black for the NXT title and then Gargano beats Ciampa for it.

Marty Scrull debuts and wins the UK championship and joins undisputed era kicking out Adam Cole, presuming Cole has lost the NA championship.
