Shingo in the NEVER belt picture is another possibility.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax 29: 7/6/19 - 8/12/19

Hell of a fucking tournament with a excellent main event to top things off. White may not be the best wrestler, but he's such a tremendous, easy to hate heel and it works so damn well. Ibushi has the rocket push now that he's there for the rest of his career. It almost feels like they were always on the cusp of doing it with him but were waiting for him to stop being a freelancer.

Also that Kenta/Bullet Club/Shibata angle was incredible and easily one of the best things I've seen all year, and one of the best angles in the last couple years. I actually got a bit emotional when Shibata started doing his spots, especially that corner dropkick, he looks like he's in terrific shape, but I highly doubt we see him wrestle a match. If I'm honest, as much as I want to see him wrestle again, its for the best. But Kenta now looks like a top heel with the reaction out of this angle. Just perfection.

It's hard to pick a top 10 when it comes to matches with how many of them I loved:

1. Jon Moxley vs Tomohiro Ishii - Day 6 - *****

2. Shingo Takagi vs Tomohiro Ishii - Day 16 - *****

3. SANADA vs Kazuchika Okada - Day 13 - ****3/4

4. Will Ospreay vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - Day 17 - ****3/4

5. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada - Day 1 - ****3/4

6. Shingo Takagi vs Tetsuya Naito - Day 14 - ****3/4

7. Jay White vs Kota Ibushi - Finals - ****3/4

8. Will Ospreay vs Kazuchika Okada - Day 7 - ****3/4

9. EVIL vs SANADA - Day 5 - ****1/2

10. Tomohiro Ishii vs Juice Robinson - Day 10 - ****1/2

My Top 10

1. Ospreay/Okada-*****
2. Naito/Shingo-*****
3. White/Ibushi-*****
4. Okada/Sanada-*****
5. Ishii/Shingo-*****
6. Ospreay/Ibushi-*****
7. Moxley/Ishii-****3/4
8. Ospreay/Tana-****3/4
9. Naito/Ishii-****3/4
10.Tana/Evil-****3/4

And honestly the next 10 would all still be matches ****1/2-****3/4. Absolutely amazing collection of matches.

Wrestle Kingdom 14 being two nights

What are your thoughts on this ? surely the reason they did this was to give Liger a Dome Main Event while still allowing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship match to main event January 4th, if I had to guess they do Okada/Ibushi on the 4th and Ligers Retirement match on the 5th, this makes what they will do on the Undercard for each show intresting, perhaps the IC and US titles get seperate nights along with the Heavyweight Tag and Jr Heavyweight Tag, not sure if this format will be used for future WKs though they could just go back to one night for WK15

Re: NJPW G1 Climax 29: 7/6/19 - 8/12/19

Amazing Tournament, the last three nights just makes watching Takeover and Summerslam tough as they just aren't on the same level of what G1 gave us. I thought Ishii, Ospreay, Moxley, Shingo, White, Ibushi, Okada, Archer and Taichi were the standouts. Not one show was below good imo. The best matches is a tough call but for me it be mostly Ishii and Ospreay matches

1. Okada vs Ospreay *****.5
2. Ibushi vs White ***** 1/2
3. Ishii vs Shingo *****
4. Ishii vs Moxley *****
5. Ibushi vs Okada *****
6. Ibushi vs Ospreay *****
7. Shingo vs Naito *****
8. Sanada vs Ospreay ****.5
9. Ospreay vs ZSJ **** 1/2
10. Ospreay vs Tanahashi ****1/2

Could have done a top 20 list the tournament was that awesome. Probably aside from Shingo vs Ospreay from BOSJ final, Ospreay vs Dragon Lee at Dominion and Tanahashi vs Omega at WK, My top 10 this year will probably be full of matches from the G1.

Also how awesome was that Kenta heel turn with Shibata. God when pro wrestling is done great it gives you goosebumps.

It was really a good G1 , but since i started watching them they have all been awesome anyways

I just finished to watch the final between Ibushi and White , the chemistry between both wrestlers was incredible and it delivered on all levels, they played with the crowd so much that you were hearing their reaction at every steps of the action, psychology at its finest.

PACIFIC RIM: JIM AND FUMI RECAP THE G1 FINALS

Notes ripped straight from a reddit thread
Quote:
  • Fumi Saito said he was wrong. Context: in their in their last podcast, Saito said Mox seemed very committed to New Japan and they were very high on him. Also said that Mox was his favorite to win B Block and that Mox vs Okada will happen if they don't meet in the finals.
  • At the end of the 5-week tour, Mox put over Juice clean. It's a sure thing that the October Sumo Palace will be his return match. Jon will return the belt to Juice and that might be it for him for New Japan. (It looks like Saito could be referring to King of Pro Wrestling on 10/14 at Ryogoku Kokugikan.)
  • Saito thought Mox was so committed to New Japan and he would go all the way to Tokyo Dome, and he'll go back and forth with AEW and New Japan's schedule just like Chris Jericho. He said at the end of the 5-week tour, he had this feeling that this might be it for Jon Moxley.
  • Valley said it's hard to say but he feels like the best that's going to happen is that Mox puts over Juice for the US title at the Tokyo Dome as the best outcome. They got the feeling that he's lost his momentum and there's isn't much commitment to many more matches.
  • Saito said the momentum is there and he's popular and the people are hoping he'll be regular with New Japan. But when he was giving his interview at the final night at Budokan, it made it look like that's pretty much it for Moxley in New Japan (Yes, Saito keeps repeating that statement). You can almost tell when someone's leaving.
  • Valley said they didn't mention if he and Shooter are going to be the Death Riders tag team. Speculates that maybe they'll do some tag team matches. Obviously Mox elevated Shota Umino, which is good for him but not much more but no less.
  • Also bring up NJPW's Royal Quest being on the same day as AEW's All Out. Valley brings up one of the advertised AEW matches with Shawn Spears and Jon Moxley and he thought that they can't have Shawn or Mox beaten. It feels more like a WWE style where it's going to push someone's angle moving forward, whether it's Kenny Omega or Cody interfering. After all these cool matches, and intensity, and crazy promos with the G1, it feels like it's back to American style. To be fair, they haven't seen anything yet from AEW on TNT.
  • After Mox and Omega, they'll have a feeling on the direction they're going. They hope some things will be clearer after All Out.
So maybe the Moxley run will only last until AEW tv start, and then he's gone.

As long as he drops the belt in the Tokyo Dome, that's fine. Hopefully, things between NJPW and AEW shake themselves out in a year and we can have more Jericho-type deals, which apparently they can negotiate with enough leverage between the two, and it seems as long as the conditions are that the wrestlers only wrestle in Japan for NJPW and not elsewhere.

I don't think that's unmanageable, unless AEW makes a deal with All Japan or NOAH or something. Then that really complicates things.

To me it sounds like Saito is starting to think that Moxley will drop the belt to Juice in October and then leave. Won't even make it to the Tokyo Dome.
