Zombie Mafia Game Thread

Zombie Mafia

Hello and welcome to Zombie Mafia! The team has been chosen.

Rules

- Donít directly quote any correspondence with me
- Donít go overboard with the flaming
- Play to your win condition
- You may make one non-game related post upon death.
- Mafia win when they control the majority.
- Town win when they eliminate all threats.
- There is absolutely no flavour whatsoever.

Game

- 3 mafia goons
- 1 2x Masoniser (masoniser dies if they target mafia)
- 9 Vanilla townies
- Majority lynch
- 24 hour days, 12 hour nights.

Apparently on Perc they like to start out with fluffy posts. I like my approach better

General play:


Fewer claims, later claims. The assumption should be that everyone will claim VT. With that in mind there is no reason to push people for a claim. We should be aiming for 1-2 claims a day max with those claims coming at 1/2 short of majority after there has been adequate time for discussion. As we're pushing for fewer claims, fewer votes should naturally be placed as votes are effectively a vote to kill for 12/13 players in the game.

Chosen partners:

I'm going to go ahead and say overreliance on recruitment spec is a recipe for disaster.

For the record I was planning to list every player other than me from 1-12 in terms of quality as a scum player and pick #3 and #4 if I drew recruiter.

Masoniser:

2-shot masoniser should use their role N1 and N2.

Masoniser should claim masoniser if pressed, probably slightly earlier than most other people would claim. If we accept the possibility of the masoniser claiming vanilla townie initially and only claiming their real role if they are about to be lynched then we also have to accept that scum who is about to be lynched will attempt to act like the masoniser and either A) escape the lynch or B) out the masoniser. The masoniser play being to claim their real role early deincentivises scum to fake masoniser and get counterclaimed in order to out the real masoniser.

The difference between the option A and B here is huge:

A) Uses on both nights resulting in:
2 confirmed townies
OR
1 confirmed townie and us knowing 1 scum from 2

B) Uses on night 1 resulting in:
Us knowing 1 scum from 2 players

My suggestion for working towards option A would be for the masoniser to target one of their strongest town reads on night 1 without being as obvious about who they are targetting as a hider would be. If you die at night we will 100% know if you were the scum kill or not (based on the number of kills) so the only doubt will come from which target made you die. Then on night 2 if you make it there target 1 scum read (in the hope of "copping" the scum read).

If you succeed in targetting a town player (i.e. if you're still alive on day 2) you can use them as the person who you tell who you are targetting in case you die.

Great post by Curry, even tried to micro-analyse and couldn't find any faults. I think he'd keep that to himself as scum as to not draw attention, so he gets a preliminary town read.

As there only 13 players here, I agree that the masoniser should hide their target and use on a stronger town read. As there may only be nine other players to select from, it may be easier for the scum team to determine who the masoniser is from breadcrumbing it. I doubt we'll be inundated with night posts either.

Ah man, I wanted to be the recruiter so I could just pick the two strongest players in the game and guarantee a win for myself as everyone else is too lacking in confidence or assertiveness to stop us from dominating, which definitely would've happened.

Curry what is the upside/downside of having everyone give a list in order of players they would masonize if they were the masonizer going into n1 so that if they die we know who they targeted?

Depends on how well you think we'd be able to ignore the wifom of the night kill target vs the list they gave.

Assuming we give no thought either way to that it's probably a solid plan. Better than the "masonise the one below you in the OP" plan I was cooking up

How are you planning to feel when 60% of the answers are people saying they'd masonise you because we know there's no immunity in this game?
