The biggest question I feel is whether or not new japan continues with AXS or if they even offer them another deal given that the deal they have is ending soon. Who knows though maybe this will become a great wrestling network instead of whatever other drivel they air.

NJPW's deal with AXS runs through January 2020.

Anthem just fired a bunch of the people responsible for taking NJPW's World Pro Wrestling Returns tapes and turning them into the show we see on AXS every week, so it remains to be seen how Anthem will handle it once the episodes they already have sitting in the can have all aired.

It could go a few ways. NJPW (and ROH) already air on Fight Network in Canada, so it's entirely possible Anthem and NJPW work out a deal to continue airing NJPW long term. Maybe they even pick up ROH, who is always looking for another outlet to go along with the local Sinclair channels, Charge, Stadium, Fite TV, social media, and Honor Club.

Or NJPW could seek a deal that would package NJPW with ROH's one hour show. ROH's show has wider penetration than NJPW's current deal with AXS, but it has the disadvantage of airing at different times and days on various different platforms. NJPW on AXS is on the same bat-time and same bat-channel every week, and that has obvious advantages.

ROH's parent company just bought 20-something Fox Sports Network channels, so it's likely ROH will be rolled out onto those channels too. It could be that NJPW goes along for the ride.

Or NJPW could seek another deal independent of Anthem or Sinclair (ROH's parent company).

AXS TV is on DirecTV and AXS TV is a major wrestling network so if they sandwich Impact between WOW and NJPW they will have a lot more viewers then they used to on POP.

This is good for Impact, and good for wrestling.

Ummm AXS has more than wrestling!!

I am referring to AXS in general! if they own AXS they control what is ON the channel!

I watch AXS a lot. They have a lot of live music shows and music documentaries.

Looks good for Impact but I wonder how will these affect the others on AXS. I still think it would still be great if AXS would continue to carry NJPW as well.

Impact Wrestling Officially Announces Move To AXS TV

Impact Wrestling officially announced today that has entered into an agreement to broadcast its flagship weekly two-hour program Impact nationally across the U.S. on AXS TV. Impact's parent company, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, officially announced that they acquired a majority interest in AXS TV earlier this week.

Impact will begin airing weekly on AXS TV following the Bound For Glory pay-per-view, which takes place on October 20th in Chicago. The show will continue to simulcast globally on IMPACT Wrestling's official Twitch channel.

"Impact Wrestling is a perfect fit for AXS TV's slate of live sporting events and combat sports content," said Impact Wrestling President Ed Nordholm. "The newest addition to our growing portfolio of media assets, AXS TV's audience perfectly aligns with our passionate Impact Wrestling fan base, and this move increases the reach for our weekly program with distribution in over 50 million homes.

"We could not ask for a better home and are excited by the opportunities to work with Mark Cuban and Anschutz Entertainment Group, our partners in AXS TV, to bolster IMPACT Wrestling's presence in the market, as we continue to deliver action-packed and innovative weekly programming featuring some of the most athletic and gifted stars in the professional wrestling industry."

Impact Wrestling currently airs on Friday nights on Pursuit. Impact did not officially announce if the show would continue to air on Fridays.

Looking on Wikipedia I can see AXS is available in 50 million homes whereas Pop is available in 67 million homes. I doubt Impact will get a higher viewership on AXS than it did on Pop.
