The biggest question I feel is whether or not new japan continues with AXS or if they even offer them another deal given that the deal they have is ending soon. Who knows though maybe this will become a great wrestling network instead of whatever other drivel they air.
NJPW's deal with AXS runs through January 2020.
Anthem just fired a bunch of the people responsible for taking NJPW's World Pro Wrestling Returns tapes and turning them into the show we see on AXS every week, so it remains to be seen how Anthem will handle it once the episodes they already have sitting in the can have all aired.
It could go a few ways. NJPW (and ROH) already air on Fight Network in Canada, so it's entirely possible Anthem and NJPW work out a deal to continue airing NJPW long term. Maybe they even pick up ROH, who is always looking for another outlet to go along with the local Sinclair channels, Charge, Stadium, Fite TV, social media, and Honor Club.
Or NJPW could seek a deal that would package NJPW with ROH's one hour show. ROH's show has wider penetration than NJPW's current deal with AXS, but it has the disadvantage of airing at different times and days on various different platforms. NJPW on AXS is on the same bat-time and same bat-channel every week, and that has obvious advantages.
ROH's parent company just bought 20-something Fox Sports Network channels, so it's likely ROH will be rolled out onto those channels too. It could be that NJPW goes along for the ride.
Or NJPW could seek another deal independent of Anthem or Sinclair (ROH's parent company).
