Should Impact eventually rebrand itself as TNA?

Let's fast forward a few years. Impact was able to secure a viable outlet for its weekly television show, continue to sign its talent to multi-year deals, and eventually attract a purchaser who was willing to invest more money into the company to begin to attract more name talent. Or conversely, Anthem is willing to put more money into Impact. At that point you are ready so-to-speak to reintroduce the organization to the larger casual audience.

With that - given that nostalgia can wipe away the stink of a lot of bad memories - would it be better to take advantage of that nostalgia and reintroduce Impact Wrestling as TNA? Likely there is a bit more brand remembrance - good and bad - of TNA than there is of Impact. Before dismissing it out of hand, think how a "WCW" branded show might do now for WWE, versus 15 years ago when the memories of WCW 1999 - 2000 were still fresh.

At this point, why?

Forget the other things the initials "TNA" mean.

This is a company that for years was TNA, then kind of changed it's name to Impact but not really, then as Global Force, etc.

Point is, they've gone through a lot in the last 5-10 years, and they've finally found stability and are putting on a solid product. So there's nothing really worth changing right now. Plus changing the name now, what does it really accomplish? Does it get them more viewers? Does it get them more buzz? Not really.

I have mentioned in another thread that TNA has brand recognition & Impact Wrestling does not, so yes they should.
For those saying that the initials carry an unsavory message; particularly for broadcasters / advertisers, that is an issue for North American audiences only. For the rest of the world TNA doesn't mean tits n ass.
But to resolve that you simply call the show Total Nonstop Action without referring to it using the initials of TNA. Sure the fans will chant it, and the belts might retain the TNA logo, but so long as the program shows up on the guide as Total Nonstop Action and is advertised solely as that, problem solved.

Dumb comment

Why do they need to close down when they're producing the best TV right now? Lmao Impact has the haterd fuming that they still are around after years of predictions if them closing down.

People act liek the old TNA was so bad. It was mediocre but far from the worst when it comes to entertainment. The current WWE is worse than TNA has ever beend and I dont care what anybody says. The current WWE is laughable

“Impact Wrestling” has little brand value - it’s the name of a independent promotion that has tapings in nightclubs. “TNA” immediately evokes images of a large-scale, albeit goofy competitor to WWE that ran in major arenas at times with recognizable talent.
goofy?!

Is that what you call this?:

oh and large scale? is that what you call this?:

It never hurts to have as many wrestling companies that can survive and thrive. It's good for the wrestlers to have options.

its better for wresters to pick a single company and stick with it, be a lot easier to contribute everything they have to make it the best it can be

plus that would be implying that small time dead end companies are actually "thriving" let alone count as options

They need to stick with Impact Wrestling at this point. As much as I dislike the name because it's not creative, the company has gone through enough name changes. "TNA" never seemed like an issue to me. Who really goes around thinking about TNA as tits and ass anyway? I wouldn't think very many people in all actuality.
enough people to rob this once credible promotion of millions of potential customers

oh they got recognition all right, as one of the biggest train wrecks in the history of this once great sport

they had all the potential in the world to make it great once more, but such is life

I like the TNA name. Should never got rid of it.
should never have had it to begin with, it made them sound bush league

I think the window for that has passed, with the whole GFW naming fiasco being that window. Need to just enjoy Impact for what they are now, which is an underground indy fed that probably won’t ever go under. If returning to six sided rings did not make that much of a difference, aside from giving them a post Hogan and Bischoff direction, what would changing the name again do?

They're doing a good job with the impact stuff now so to go back to the TNA name is bad for the already stated reasons of the implications behind it and the general rep the company gained over that time. Plus the last thing they need after the previous few years is ANOTHER name change. This one works, just stick with it and focus on producing a solid show.

There's no point in rebranding anything if you aren't going to make real changes & fix the core issues that plague Impact.

1) Cheap ownership - Don't pay to keep talent so any talent that gets over is gone. Underwhelming visual presentation for shows. A wrestling company with a minimalist philosophy is never going to bring in big returns.

2) Lack of stars - There is nobody on the roster that is a top caliber draw that brings in fans or viewers. Even if there was someone, they would be gone pretty fast. See problem#1.

3) Terrible platforms - Specialty services/channels with small audiences or Pursuit with no audience. Impact has a lack of exposure & reach so even if they create a good product...not enough to eyeballs are watching. Nobody is going to stumble on the Pursuit channel so its tough to create a new audience.

Fix these issues & Impact might have a chance. Otherwise it is down the path to total nonstop irrelevancy.

can you imagine any successful promotion in history doing that?

It will always be TNA to the real fans :D
for better or worse, the NWA should have abandoned their own system and gone all in with this, name and all

If anything they should rebrand with Impact wrestling. Not sure who designed those fucking belts but it looks like the king of Indies for tacky belts. Not something you want to be.Their goal is to come off as a strong professional looking brand taken serious. They look tacky and cheap and the owl is stupid. No one cares about Anthem sports

I have been a TNA Impact fan since the first weekly PPV. Since the hype began really, the hype of the company being built, all the ashes from WCWs dying days forming a miracle company that would give fans a real alternative to the WWF.

That vision is completely gone and I think I am just now realizing it. Anthem should sell, atleast Dixie TRIED. For all of the mistakes Dixie made she atleast tried to make TNA Impact into something legit.

i can't find the specific one

Why go back to an old name?

Isn't the fun of it coming up with something different to call it every few years or so?
brand confusion
