Unhappiness over creative and pay has led to a rift between Impact Wrestling and Killer Kross, PWInsider.com has learned.

We have been told by numerous sources that Kross, 33, has been unhappy with the current multi-year deal he signed with Impact a year ago and has requested a raise in pay, based on what his market value could be outside of Impact Wrestling. We are told that Kross has also raised some concerns about how he is being used from a creative standpoint, but the major issue that has caused the schism between the two sides is financial.

Sources indicate that Kross, unhappy with his current pay scale, pushed for a six-figure guaranteed deal that would bring him far more than he was currently making working for Impact.

The Impact side of the story is that Kross was offered and agreed to a deal a year ago when he was relatively unknown (on a national level) and that Kross agreed to those terms. Now that Kross has had a year on their TV (raising his profile obviously) and voiced his financial concerns, we are told that Impact countered with an offer for a new, restructured three-year deal but that that money offered was well below the six-figure per year deal Kross was looking for. We are also told that Kross’ current deal pays him by the date, while he was seeking a more guaranteed deal that would pay him a base salary vs. paid by the date booked, since many Impact contracts don’t guarantee a set number of dates per year – and that Kross was pushing for a guaranteed salary.

After turning down the restructured deal, sources indicate that Kross asked for a release from his Impact contract a week ago, seeking to explore his options elsewhere. Kross has had WWE tryouts in the past and we are told there’s been interest in him there and in other places in recent months, so it wouldn’t be a far-fetched notion in the current pro wrestling landscape that he’d likely to secure a spot somewhere.

Thus far, we are told Kross' request for a release has not been granted and that Impact has no current plans to offer him a release. Kross, who debuted for the company in 2018, is under contract for several more years based on the deal he signed in 2018.

Relations between the two sides remain professional, we are told.

Kross appeared on the Impact tapings in Philadelphia as part of a program with Eddie Edwards, so he will be on TV for the next several weeks. Impact’s next TV tapings are in New York City in early June, which would be Kross’ next expected appearance.

The word making the rounds tonight at the Impact Championship Wrestling event in Queens, NY is that Scarlett Bordeaux officially requested a release from her Impact Wrestling contract late last week.

In checking with multiple sources this evening, PWInsider.com has confirmed that Bordeaux indeed asked for her release from her deal, which is said to pay her per appearance and is not a guaranteed deal.

Bordeaux officially came on board with Impact last year and has been given a strong push as the sexy temptress "Smokeshow." Originally trained by Jimmy Jacobs and Truth Martini, Bordeaux broke into the business in the Chicago area and has worked previously for Ring of Honor and AAA, among other promotions. Of late, she has been aligned with Fallah Bah and recently completed a program with Disco Inferno.

Bordeaux, 28, is believed to be under contract to Impact until later this summer. There is no word yet whether the release will be granted. She recently worked the TV tapings in Philadelphia and would next be scheduled to appear for the company at the NYC TV tapings in early June.

As PWInsider.com reported last week, Killer Kross recently requested his release as well, but has been told the release will not be granted. The promotion, however, recently granted the contractual release of Gursinder Singh.

Interesting. I do feel like they've underutilised him. They had a great way of bringing him in, he had a badass theme song. The pairing with Austin Aries was intriguing at first and we all expected an eventual turn. Then Moose joins the fray, and the whole shenanigans with Aries occur. From there, it's been pretty much downhill. The Kross/Impact storyline has been dragging on for a long time and it didn't go the route I anticipated. Kross is by far their best piece of character work on the roster. Shame, really.

Lol, Killer Kross has improved his ring work greatly see his matches vs Cage and Willie Mack. That being said I think Kross is trying to strike while he can he'll be 34 soon so he needs to make his money. That also being said this sucks, the company has some momentum on and off screen for the first time maybe ever? And this is what we have to talk about this week leading into the debut of these new tapings from philly this week. It just seems this company is constantly fighting an uphill battle!

IMPACT don't need him to survive. Put the $ elsewhere...

Kross has been ok but if he leaves, he won't really be missed. It is strange timing as he has always been featured but there was reports that AEW was after big men so perhaps this is him trying to see if he can jump over to AEW.

MLW would be great for Kross with there mma style and some of Impact stars do both so that could be best option at minute.

That's exactly what it is. IMPACT is turning some kind of a profit, considering how much they've cut back in production over the past couple years...

On the latest episode of Behind the Lights, Anthony Carrelli (Santino Marella) & George the Iceman (owner of Destiny wrestling) both agreed that Killer Kross is currently the best professional wrestler in the world, calling him 'the complete package.'
I've watched him for the past year at Impact and I agree with their comments. I was quite surprised to see all the negative comments about him on here. I think part of the hate he gets is because he's been booked so poorly. Either that or he's being judged solely on in-ring ability which is slightly slow / methodical but that represents his wrestling style.
Funny thing is if he went elsewhere he wouldn't succeed - he isn't the right fit for any other promotions right now, unless he drastically changed his gimmick. It's a similar situation to when EC3 left I suppose.

For real Impact has not used him well lately that's damn sure. He came in and the guy was taking out talent backstage before his debut, and the momentum he had going with Aries and Moose was on point. When he broke out he was doing well, now he's playing Hide Kenny from Edwards with that feud going on. Granted I'm the guy to stick to the Contract you signed, but I'm glad he said something because right now they might be losing a megastar I feel in Kross if he leaves. The Man can legit scare you to death with his facial expressions or show intelligent he is with his words. He just needs to put together the Ring work more and he could legit be a top star in any Company if given the chance.

Report: IMPACT Offered Killer Kross Less Than NXT Entry Level Deal; Talent "Literally Losing Money"

More details regarding Killer Kross' release request from IMPACT Wrestling.

On May 14 it was reported by PWInsider that Killer Kross had requested his release from IMPACT Wrestling due to low pay and the two sides being unable to agree on a restructured deal. Kross reportedly wanted a new six-figure deal but IMPACT countered with a three-year deal that was below six-figures. Kross signed a multi-year deal with the promotion last year.

Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone reports that Kross was offered less than an NXT entry-level deal, which is reportedly $45,000 per year.

Pritchard goes on to report that many signed to IMPACT on multi-year deals, including Kross, are "literally losing money" due to travel costs and expenses. Talent is reportedly making $250-400 per appearance, with no guaranteed minimum amount of appearances.

"Several talents saying they were making as little as $3000-5000 for the year," reports Pritchard. This only includes their deal with IMPACT Wrestling and does not include any money talent makes through other Independent appearances.

IMPACT is not expected to release Kross from his current deal.

Union for what?

He signed a contract and now he wants out of it. What's even the point of the contract if you're not going to commit?

Wrestlers simply got spoiled since no matter how many bridges you burn, there will still be enough places to work. WWE, NXT, Impact, AEW, MLW, NJPW, RoH, CMLL, AAA. And these are only the bigger ones.

WWE and Khan may have an infinite amount of money to sign everyone, but other companies dont and they need to make profit to function.

"wrestlers worth" argument cant be taken sirous because of AEW and WWE. Those 2 companies can give 7 figures to anyone just so Impact and NJPW couldn't sign them. And this is kind of a monopoly.

Wwe and aew low ball wrestlers as well. I think the most Cena made with wwe in one year was $10 million and that's including extra back in revenue. Cena in his prime should have been making at least $25 million per year before the bonuses.

Ambrose only made $2 million in the year where he headlined more shows than anyone on the roster. And you wonder why he left.
