Re: Randy Orton's gimmick isn't for sell.

Just because #Ortons meant to be a psycho does not stop him from being the face of the company PPL LOVE psychopaths real or otherwise, there's a reason ppl love Michael Myers, Jason Voorhee's ect it's not cause the movies have tremendous action sometimes we just wantr to watch someone go nuts and kill ppl, in Orton's case he knocks em out and caves in their head people still love it.
Also Orton has more than enough charisma it's his promo's that are'nt the best, look at RVD tremendous charisma shitty promo dont mean he was'nt a draw.
the problem is, and try and keep in mind Orton sometimes gets as little as 5-10 minutes on the show like last week he had his match and a quick promo thats was about it, Cena had the opening 15 minutes of the show, plus the entire "what happened last time" shit first 5 minutes of the show was all for himself then shared the last 10 with Jericho, he then was in the main event for the last 20 minutes, not to mention all the shots of him or addition replays ect Cena raked up like 40 minutes screen time last week compared to Ortons 10 minutes at best, it's not hard to out sell someone when your given over nearly 4 times the exposure than him.
And as for Orton not getting to Austins level, well thats obvious Austin was at a time when over like 10 million homes in the US watched wrestling on monday nights, as opposed to the 4-4.5 million that watch it now, it's no wonder the reactions arent the same, Austin was at the top during a peak time for the business, Ortons on top during a recession*sp?* and in the midst of a wrestling slump as is.

Re: Randy Orton's gimmick isn't for sell.

I think that if Orton was to be the top face of the company, WWE would need to move towards a more adult orientated style of wrestling again. Orton doesn't appeal to the little children in the same way that Cena does.

Also, what does "isn't for sell" mean? Those words, in that order, don't make sense. Do you mean "isn't for sale", like you can't buy it, or "it won't sell", like nobody would want to buy it?

From a marketing standpoint, there's a big difference between a guy who doesn't take crap from anybody and a guy who's purported to have mental issues. There are certainly SIGNIFICANT similarities between their role in WWE and their rise to face-dom, but defying authority is NOT THE SAME as being a lunatic.

God, this third hour of Raw really drags...

Well Cena isn't going to turn heel soon so we don't even need to have this discussion

Re: Randy Orton's gimmick isn't for sell.

Since the Orton and Cena feuds have involved Orton being heel and Cena being the face, I would think it would be refreshing to have Orton be the face with Cena as the heel. A Cena heel turn would obviously do wonders for the WWE, but I still think that an Orton face can be very successful.

Is it just me or does the OP always make threads that makes me wanna red rep them but I can't cause i already did lol.

Why do you watch WWE? Really.....

Complain about orton as face, act like cena means nothing to the company, dont like how cm punk is being booked, dont like many young talent on raw getting pushed.

Unless you're watching Raw just to make fun of it, I don't see how you can watch wwe.....

The face of the company has to be larger than life and that's not Randy Orton. The level that Orton has gotten to right now, that's IT for him. That's as high as he's gonna go. He's not going to John Cena's level of popularity and he's CERTAINLY not going to Austin's level. Austin's presence was out of the world. I don't care if the gimmicks are similar, the talents are not.

When Randy Orton gets a pop like THIS

then you can start the Austin comparisons, and he never will. Until then he's just an overpushed pretty boy that got popular because Vince McMahon forced his cock down the audience's throat.
Damn, even mainevent pops of today are a joke compared to that, makes Cena look like McIntyre lol. I really wonder if there is anyone who is capabable to achieve such pops in wrestling today (given the right push).

You say that, but he has been a face for a very, very, very long time. He's been playing a fan friendly gimmick since his before his first championship; in fact, he's been a consistent babyface since late 2003. Look at how many people have come and gone since then! Seven years is a long time to go without a turn of some sort. Now would be a pretty good time for a Cena heel turn as there are still enough young fans who idolize him who would be genuinely shocked. It would be like Hogan's turn in 1996 - nobody believed that would happen, either, and it was great for business.

The best way for this to happen is to have this happen:

Have Cena as the one who attacked Undertaker, build up a rivalry that leads to Wrestlemania and then have Cena end the streak! You'd have the hottest heel in professional wrestling.

Re: Randy Orton's gimmick isn't for sell.

Yes, I have been waiting for a Cena and Undertaker feud. I highly, highly doubt Undertaker will allow anyone to beat him at WrestleMania. I just doubt that would ever happen. However, Cena needs to destroy the Undertaker. It would be a fantastic feud and the perfect pathway for Cena to turn heel. This is more of a pipe dream, but I cannot see how the WWE would allow an opportunity like Undertaker vs. Cena dissipate.
