Re: What is the best match of all-time?

WWF/E wise I'd have to say personally Austin vs Bret Survivor Series 96 (Yes I did prefer it to the Wrestlemania 13match.) Its between that and Bret Hart vs British Bulldog at In Your House: Season's beatings(far better than the Summerslam match.)

Outside WWE my personal favourites are Jumbo Tsuruta vs Mitsuharu Misawa 1st match or Dan Kroffat & Doug Furnas vs Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi both from All Japan. On top of that I love Ric Flair vs Barry Windham NWA and Bryan Danielson vs Roderick Strong ROH Supercard of Honor.

You clearly remember it well if you don't even know the year it took place.

Austin V Bret I Quit Match Wrestlemania 13: The double swerve says it all the fact Bret a 10 year babyface turns heel Austin the heel becomes the biggest face in WWE history. Plus its just such a good brawl Bret and Steve did a great job and the two have good chemistry together

This is the correct answer.

The most overrated match of all time. The only thing that made it special was the atmosphere, 90,000 people, and Steamboat taking the title. The match itself was solid, but it wasn't spectacular. Ricky Steamboat vs Bret Hart (1987, i'm not sure the exact date, it's on the Bret Hart DVD) was a much better match.

Re: What is the best match of all-time?

To me, Hart/Austin (WM 13) and Angle/Benoit (RR 03) represent the two sides of what makes the "perfect" match. The former an out-and-out brawl filled with hatred, passion, violence, and the most incredible character shift ever in a single match; the latter, a picture-perfect demonstration of technical wrestling free of outside interference, controversy, and all the other nonsense that writers too often lean on to tell what they think is a compelling story. I will never forget the feeling I had, sitting there in the arena in Philadelphia for the Royal Rumble, watching that classic. Its greatness was all the more apparent when compared to the other world title match of the night, the Triple H/Scott Steiner disaster. That match represented everything wrong with WWE at the time, while Benoit/Angle represented everything that was right.

God, this third hour of Raw really drags...

Re: What is the best match of all-time?

For Savage matches,

vs Steamboat is around ****, the pace, cardio and workrate is what makes it a classic. Nothing much else to the match imo. But it did inspire a generation of smaller guys.
vs Hogan is around ****1/4
vs Flair is around ****1/4 (havent watched vs Flair or Hogan in around 3-5 years tho)
vs Warrior is ***** for me. Just adored it
