Too much emphasis on the women?

I admit, I care very little about the womens division. Could this be driving viewers away?

Wrestlemania main event, seperate Royal Rumble, the face of the company is Becky Lynch and on the cover of computer games.

It's like they put so much effort into the womens revolution that they half-ass everything else.

I will give them this. The women seem to have fleshed out characters and tend to have storylines revolve around them but who is really tuning in to see a Lacey Evans match?

I get they appeal to their hardcore fanbase and most topics on here that are about any of the women have dozens of posts but doesn't it say something when the men have been shunted to the side just so we can have three womens matches on Raw.

Is this sexist? Am I wrong? How many people tuned into Smackdown the other week to see The Rock and were so captivated by Becky that they tuned in the next week as well?

Everybody moans that there are no stars in WWE and nobody seems important. Becky is booked like a star. Charlotte is booked like a star. Bayley has been repackaged and will be pushed like a star. Ronda Rousey will be pushed like a star when she gets back.

They seem important. They matter.

Where's the same for AJ Styles? What's he doing lately? Where's Samoa Joe? Why are Dolph and Roode in a throwaway tag team?

The state of the mens division is possibly at an all time low.

It's like any Rusev segment is designed to be a piss break segment while you get ready for the important Charlotte vs Natalya match.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Re: Too much emphasis on the women?

It is what it is.

Best to just watch the wrestlers you do like, or not watch at all.

I do wish they had their own show, but that's never going to happen and we all know why.

A big reason why they're shitting the bed with ratings is their inability to create stars, and that doesn't help when you're portraying Becky Lynch and Charlotte as more important. They did that in Nov-April last year and we all saw how that turned out.

Re: Too much emphasis on the women?

They don't get THAT much emphasis to be honest. Pro wrestling is still pretty much a male dominated sport. I have no problem with the women getting more spotlight. It's always good to have variety. The woman's division often times outshines them.

Re: Too much emphasis on the women?

WWE or most people here don't understand that nobody (yea besides like 14 of you here) gives a fuck about Women's division or Women in WWE. Yea that sounds rough but let's be honest here who ever watched Trish's match for her amazing in ring ability? Who watched panties and bra matches for good wrestling. Women are just eye candy in WWE and nothing more. There is a reason many people use divas segments as piss break. People watch/have watched WWE for Stone Cold, Rock, Hogan, Flair, Taker, HHH, HBK, Cena, etc and not for "First Ever Women's" shit. Eventually WWE will realize that and we will be back where we were before.

Sadly it's not only problem in WWE, with women wanting "equality" it's only gonna get worse. I've read recently how they consider new James Bond to be played women, I've watched new terminator trailer and most of comments were making jokes about not remembering that many women ever being in Terminator movies, and calling it Feminator, etc. I don't see women complaining about doing construction jobs, and other hard jobs, they only want equality when it comes to good jobs and money.

Re: Too much emphasis on the women?

Not at all...
I thought WWE should've had a numerous and strong fem division since Vince ended with WCW 18 years ago.

Top 10 for 2019: Becky Lynch, Nikki Cross, Ronda Rousey, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Toni Storm, Carmella, Taynara Conti, Jessamyn Duke, Bayley.
Seth Rollins
Elias
Jeff Hardy
Shinsuke Nakamura
Adam Cole
EC3
Aiden English
Roderick Strong
AJ Styles
Cesaro

Isn't it the worst when women takeover male spaces all for the sake of equality and attracting a different audience? Do you see men being pushed into female spaces like The View, Charlies Angels or Keeping up with the Kardashians?

The reason WWE is semi relevent today is because of blood, violence and sex appeal. You think they would be still around if they didn't have the attitude era or Rock and Austin talking shit every week? The product is what every man wanted, as a kid it was awesome seeing two big dudes beat the shit out of each bloody, say shit that you wouldn't hear on TV and hot girls with little on.

As if she'd do shit for ratings. Her big match against Charlotte and Becky actually lost viewers this week.

The division is ass and they don't have a wrestling equivalent of Ronda Rousey to overlook it.
