Theatrical Entrances.

I wish WWE would use a portion of the money they're getting from the TV and Saudi deals to improve wrestlers' entrances. To me they all - with a few exceptions - feel the same and they lack an awe-inspiring movie hero/villain tone.

Case in point is The Fiend's entrance at Summerslam was the most amazing thing I've seen in pro wrestling for many years. It felt like he was a huge deal and he is with how effortlessly he destroyed Balor. To me the entrance looked cost-effective (just turning off the lights), but he made it work. Compare that entrance of the Undertaker or Demon Balor's entrances to say Lesnar. Lesnar in comparison is not as amazing; it doesn't rile up the crowd as it should for a guy like him to come out. See Goldberg for a great entrance for another Lesnar-like guy.

So my question to you is how would you create that special entrance for each wrestler? Doesn't have to be everybody, but let's get creative here.

Re: Theatrical Entrances.

Guys like Brock dont need fancy overproduced entrances. I actually find the blandness of his entrance refreshibg and badass. Thats just my opinion.

WWE already has ay too many overproduced entrances to the point that it doesnt feel special anymore. Everybody cant have main eventer entrances lol

If more wrestling fans thought like me we would all be in wrestling mecca

It doesnt need to be Wrestlemania quality though. Sometimes it's something small that can go a long way. The Brood coming up through the ring of fire on the stage, or Bayleys inflatable used car lot guys (whatever the fuck those are called), are little things that go well with the character.

Re: Theatrical Entrances.

To me, I would be all for it as long as WWE remembers that it depends on the character, and the ability for the particular wrestler(s) to pull off the character.

So this goes into a bigger folder on characterization and how their creative department knows how to deal with each wrestler. Can they judge by his or her personality that they are in need or deserve a gimmick, an outfit, and a very theatrical entrance? Can said wrestler pull it off?

If the answer is yes on both accounts, then they should absolutely do all in their power to make this work, because the wrestler has an exceptional & natural talent for it.

If the answer is no on either account, then they should do better to not try to force an issue. There are plenty of examples of this which have turned out to be failures on creative's part.

Theatrical Entrances.

Majority of the entrances are fine. This isnít something they need to focus on.

The fact that you are using examples of current WWE entrances to show what WWE should be doing proves this topic is unnecessary.

Re: Theatrical Entrances.

Roman Reigns has legit the worst entrance ever. He walks out and blankly stares at the crowd then keeps walking... He needs to put more energy in his entrance.

Roman is saved by his own swag, but his entrance, theme and presentation are overall garbage, specially for a guy that was FOTC.

Same with Ambrose and Rollins, their entrances were flat and boring and their theme songs were generic and forgettable. That's absolutely disgusting lack of effort for WWE for the guys that was supposed to carry this generation.

Previous top guys always had something iconic, glass shatter, do you smell what the rocm is cocking, HHH spitting water, Cena's intro, Orton voices and pose, Batista pyro gun, etc, etc.

All modern top guys are treated like jobbers, look at Strowmam.. The dude should have some great heavy metal produced song, but he got some gerenic shit that doesn't do favors to his destructive aura.

Reigns entrance has nothing special to set him apart. Neither does Rollins. And the whole burn it down thing is just corny. Like you said back then people had unique aspects to their entrances that made them one of a kind. And my God the music sucks. Cena's music even though I hate it and it annoys the shit out of me at least it's somewhat recognizable and unique to him. HHH had Motorhead do his music. Batitsta had a song written for him. Stone Cold's song was done by Disturbed. Orton even had a song written for him. Rollins has a heavy metal looped riff as a theme song. Not even a good riff.

WWE is just cheap, they used to pay and collaborate with bands to make badass music. They still do but not enough. It's no wonder Bray Wyatts theme is so cool because they actually hired a band to make it. If you look at all the best entrance themes today they all have one thing in common. WWE payed bands to make them. The stock generic music themes of today are atrocious. It all sounds like stock music some copyright free bullshit I can find on youtube.

Re: Theatrical Entrances.

The top guys need better entrances but mid tier guys shouldn't have theatrical entrances because that's all they become is an entrance.

Guys like Aleister Black, Bobby Roode, and face Nakamura would get these big reactions during their entrance and then when the match starts the crowds don't react to anything in the match. Compare that to guys like Rick O'Shea, Ali and Murphy that don't get big pops coming out but they make the crowd come alive during the match, you have to ask what's better that initial 2 minutes of excitement and then relative silence or silence then a sustained 7-10 minutes of energy?
Mear likes this.
