Should people who illegally stream ppv events be prosecuted?

Traditionally, people who watch illegal sports event streams are not prosecuted because it was impossible to clearly prove they did so intentionally.

We are talking about a bar having an illegal stream. The customers at the bar can't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to have gone to that bar to watch the stream.

However, with the current technology, and people watching streams online it's far more clear. if you go to a specific website to watch a PPV for free, then it;s very clear that you did so intentionally, especially when you stay on that website for 3 hours and watch the entire event.

So my question is, should the FBI start cracking down on illegal streaming by charging not only the streamers, but those who willingly watch the streams as well?

I never understood why these big companies don't just hire some hackers and go after the stream hosts themselves with a DOS attack or something like that. I mean really, are those sites going to file a complaint for the hack? "Hey FBI, WWE hacked us and stopped us from streaming their content illegally." Yeah, I am sure that would go over well lol.

I will always pay for music through spotify and if I really support a singer etc then I will always go out my way to buy the album to own.

saying that, there are certain artists that I will only ever stream on spotify. Noel gallagher being one of them who despises his own fanbase and actively hates anyone who uses streaming services like spotify to listen to his music (he will still put it on there though).....well if you are going to be disrespectful to your fanbase then I refuse to buy your music physically, you don't deserve it. You will get some streams from me and count yourself lucky with an attitude like that. I will only buy oasis material related to that man because of my love for the band but I cannot stand that man as a person in 2019.

I don't even like someone like elton john but even if I did, I would never give him my money purely because of what an almighty cunt that man is. I simply don't like supporting someone just to get slapped for it. Celebrities and companies like that simply do not deserve fan support. If you hate your fans, fuck off and don't come back.

I feel much more comfortable spending money on people that are at least appreciative of their fans, even if its just a front, least its some kind of effort.

They're stealing a product which others are paying for so yes of course they should be prosecuted.

Stealing is both wrong and against the law, only reason those who stream/download illegally don't steal from a bricks and mortar store is because there's a high risk of getting caught and receiving a criminal record while with online theft the risk is close to zero.

Yes we should send a SWAT team to the house of everyone watching a wrestling stream. 10 years in prison also. (sarcasm just in case you did not catch on.)

In Indiana, there is no "petty shoft lifting" it's considered theft, just like any other theft.

Well, normally a bar is required to pay a much higher price for a ppv they are going to show to their customers, and I think the bars will often times do a higher cover charge to pay for it. The Mayweather/Pacquiao fight cost $100 for private residences and $50,000 for bars.

Legally - For sure

Realistically - Absolutely not

The drain on resources alone on a worldwide basis just make it not worth the hassle. Also you still can’t actually prove that someone watched a stream. You can prove that a stream was accessed by that IP address, but you can’t prove who in that household was watching it.
