Re: Tournaments

If nothing else, tournaments are a situation where it actually matters who wins or loses, which is something I can't say about general WWE programming at the moment.
Angelfish2112 and Thatguy45 like this.

Re: Tournaments

I thought NXT UK would get a KOTR style tournament at some point, I guess it still could. I know they had the UK tourny before it kicked off I just expected KOTR to be the next step annually.

I’d absolutely love the banter of a Brawl for All but I know that is never happening.

Re: Tournaments

Itís pretty well documented that Vince doesnít like them, thatís why they donít have on the MR any longer. The ďKingĒ gimmick that was forced on nearly every winner of the KOTR was so, so bad, and would probably be done again.

If they can keep Vince away from that 1980ís gimmick desire, a KOTR style tournament is great for multiple reasons. You can help build stars, by having them beat multiple guys in a night and having strong matches. It allows you to do matches that you usually canít I.e face vs. face. And it gives more significance to a ppv and makes earning a title shot feel more important.

It honestly doesnít make sense for them to not do it. But... we all the know the moron that runs things.

Actually I have watched through Day 3 so far but I did skip the undercard of Day 3. Every year I end up getting behind a few days. I should be caught up by July 24 unless real life intercedes. Pulling for KENTA and Ibushi but I don't foresee either winning. Taichi is kind of my cult figure because of Miho but he'll never win. I get the feeling they might let Okada win as champion but if Naito won and then became double champion that would be pretty cool.

Actually I agree I like tournaments, it can help elevate a wrestler and tell stories along the way.

Re: Tournaments

I'm not really into tournaments in wrestling or fictional media in general. Especially big bracket tournaments. You end up with a bunch of filler matches that you know are ultimately leading nowhere. It's not like any of these tournaments ever end up with 2 people nobody would've predicted fighting so it's ultimately just overly long for my liking.
