TFue/FaZe Lawsuit and potential effect on WWE and their contracts

https://www.si.com/more-sports/2019/...wsuit-fortnite

The premise of the lawsuit is that FaZe Clan signed Fortnite Streamer Turner 'TFue" Tenney to a contract where it states he is a independent contractor, Tenney however argues that the contract is illegal under California law and is suing FaZe Clan for not releasing him from the contract and that the orginzation is a talent agency, not a sports organization in which FaZe claims to be.

If the courts side with TFue could WWE talent that want out sue WWE and argue WWE is a entertainment company and not a sports organization and therefore the contract is illegal under California law

Well for starters, I have no idea who those names are above, or what they are ...
but I'm sure that it won't be the first or last time that people try to get out of their contracts or issue a lawsuit with this company, if shit hits the fan.

Re: TFue/FaZe Lawsuit and potential effect on WWE and their contracts

This will have no effect on WWE

He signed the contracts over a year ago

He signed the contract

He signed the contract

Now that he actually read it, and being held up to what he signed he doesn't like it

He can hire a lawyer to try to get him out of it but it's very apparent he never hired one to proof read it before signing it.

The Faze Clan and TFue are nothing more than pro video gamers who has been at tournaments and won some of them. As well as have popular twitch channels.

Re: TFue/FaZe Lawsuit and potential effect on WWE and their contracts

Merely arguing WWE is an entertainment company and not a sports organization doesn't change the classification status. Not to mention, Vince's testimony before the New Jersey State Senate in '89 outright made that distinction, in an attempt to get wrestling deregulated. A big reason why things are the way they are now is because of that testimony.

So, the outcome of the TFue/FaZe lawsuit would have no effect on WWE, in that regard. The issue on WWE's end is how the classification of performers as independent contractors treats them as employees without getting the same benefits. The TFue issue seems to be more about the terms of his contract.

Who is True or False?

It's so great to see WWE stopped trying to get ex-football players and are looking at the video game Youtube players.......
