Did The Undertaker ruin his legacy?

Is it safe to say now ?

Undertaker is one of the most appreciated and respected wrestler in the industry. But it doesn’t change the fact that he’s been mediocre to bad for half a decade (since Mania 30) and I don’t expect him to get better.

I know 5 years out of 29 isn’t that much, but when you look at Taker’s body of work throughout his whole career, he has alot of shitty years under his belt on a « in ring performance » perspective : 1990 to 1995 were shit, such as 99 to 01 and now since 2014 he’s been horrible for the most part. Overall, that’s about 12 years of relatively bad performances, you can’t ignore that.

Now, should we really give a fuck about wrestlers’ legacies? It’s up to you.

Personally, I wanna have fond memories of my favorite wrestlers that I grew up watching. When I think of Taker now, I see a man who’s a total shell of his own self. When I watch a Undertaker match, instead of enjoying the show, I’m only telling myself : « man don’t collapse, don’t embarrass yourself or don’t botch it ». As a fan, that makes me sad and uncomfortable to watch.

Am I sports entertained? Hell no!

The last five years definitely hurt Taker’s legacy (IMO) and the Goldberg match validated it, but at the same time, he just can’t call it quits after having one of the worst match of all time.

No, he's still one of the greatest. But the last few years will taint it for sure and put a bit of a skid on it. With HBK, you can say he went out on top.He even looked decent in his blood money Saudi match.

I think he should hang up his boots and get out when the getting's good. If he plans to have one more match then get someone like Daniel Bryan, AJ styles, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor to get in the ring with him and carry him to a great match then ride off into the sunset. I don't want to see any more legend matches or crap like that.

These matches do not take away from the quality of his previous ones. Still one of the GOATs

Re: Did The Undertaker ruin his legacy ?

No, but he's well on the way. Should have retired from in ring competition after putting Lesnar over at Hell in a Cell, or after the match against Shane.

All he is now is an entrance and a promo, he can still do that, but shouldn't be having matches any more. The perfect role for him is heading some kind of faction of "dark side" wrestlers, people like Balor, Black, the Bludgeon Brothers. Are The Ascension still around? He can and should still get physical at some points, randomly showing up when the lights go out and choke-slamming people or whatever, but he should not have another match, certainly not another match with a 300lb man.

He certainly isn't doing his (WWE Sports Entertainment) legacy any favours the more he turns up for Wrestlemania and other WWE PPV's.

Re: Did The Undertaker ruin his legacy ?

I don't think he can damage his legacy too much, I do think he should have stopped after Reigns at WM though, its been a disaster since (not that that was any good lol)

Re: Did The Undertaker ruin his legacy ?

His legacy is just fine. How his career ends or how bad the last few years will be has no effect on the many good years his career has had.
