Anyone who falls for this clear bait after how awful WWE at the moment and that they are willing to bait and switch at a moment's notice (Brock cash in, "gritty" third hour) deserve to be lied to and get no sympathy.

I run an anime-centric CAW league called Anime Championship Wrestling

Have a trans wrestler in a storyline. That would be interesting an get some viewers. Lol have the trans wrestler trick the person there with in a romantic relationship, causes a feud. Bring the counterculture of the attitude era ,up to today’s date. I understand sponsors and investors, don’t have to disrespect the trans wrestler just have them incorporated somehow. Shit have a heel stable that gets offended by any and everything, the amount of heat a sexist wrestler would get would be ultra mega heat in today’s age. That will never happen but shit, it would be entertaining.

Before they get to the attitude era, they need to go through the new generation era first. So they need to start culling the old guys like Taker, Goldberg, Lesnar, Cena, Orton etc but they won't do that because of AEW.

Re: Mick Foley Says WWE Is Looking To Bring Back Parts Of The Attitude Era

this has been talked about, rumored and hinted at for well over a decade now, i'll believe it when I see it

Despite what you may have heard about so-called "smark marks" and the "IWC" some of us are actually here to help. All you have to do is ask.

It should be 100% standard across pro wrestling.

Re: Mick Foley Says WWE Is Looking To Bring Back Parts Of The Attitude Era

Bottom Line: People are not going to suffer through the first 2 hours of Raw to get to the "Attitude Era" hour. It's just not going to happen. If that's their current business strategy, it's not going to be successful. People hung around till 10:50 at night in 1998 because of what the 1st hour of Raw set up.

Now, if WWE was given 2 hours on FX(where they get away with a staggering level of freedom) from 9 to 11 where they could be less polished, less scripted, and balls to wall. That product would draw well above what they're getting now. WWE has forgotten what the element of unpredictability brought to their audience.

Take Deadpool for example. Ryan Reynolds teased that it was going to be rated PG-13 just to show the BIG wigs at Fox just how much backlash they were going to receive for not giving a character like that free reign to do whatever it dictated. Fox backed off and gave that movie the R rating and freedom it deserved. If viewers knew that they had no idea what WWE was going to get away with, they would tune in just to see. You don't have to be as raunchy as possible, but you could be at any moment. That's what people tune in to see. Not the rating itself, but what you could try with that rating any given week

Remember how Dixie used to promise "HUGE SURPRISE" every week on twitter? Yeah.. WWE has fallen that low.

Re: Mick Foley Says WWE Is Looking To Bring Back Parts Of The Attitude Era

I like the idea, and I really hope it does what they intend it to.

But I see a fatal flaw in this whole thing. The concept is that, in the 3rd hour of RAW, we will go back to the chaos and unpredictability of years gone by. OK .. but if you're literally ANNOUNCING that "there will be chaos in the 3rd hour of RAW", doesn't that completely negate the chaos in whatever happens?

People tuned into RAW during the Attitude Era because they didn't know what would happen. They didn't want to miss what might happen. But not EVERY episode was filled to the brim with chaos. That's the point. It's not chaos if it happens every episode. And announcing it like this has a feel of desperation. It will lead to people automatically judging every moment as this "scripted chaos", and most likely calling it contrived and unimpactful.

Again, I do hope that the concept takes off, and we get some truly cool new RAW moments. But to me, it seems like we'll just end up with Braun tipping over a portapotty in hour 3, rather than in hour 1, and these moments will still feel just as tame, cheesy and scripted. I want to be proven wrong, WWE. Please surprise me!
