As much as people dump on WWE Creative, you have to admit it has to be one of the most soul-crushing jobs possible. Working for a man who demands perfection and micromanages every detail, so you work yourself to the bone and come up with a stack of ideas, only for Vince to change his mind an hour before the show and demand it all be re-done.
There's been countless shoot interviews from former writers where they've talked about their ideas being shot down, or agreed to and changed last minute. They often share those ideas, too, and they make sense and are compelling. A far cry from what Vince actually puts on TV most weeks.
Was Gail Kim recently snubbed by the WWE? IDK why but it feels like she really wanted her one last run at WWE ala Kurt but was denied and she seems super bitter about it.
I can't imagine the stress and how depressing must it be to work there, but you gotta pay the bills somehow. Funny considering in the other thread, it's still Vince who has the last say so anything the writers put out means nothing.
tbf its not like they are forced to work there, if its so bad that you are crying over stress then its probably time to leave. If they don't want to leave due to the money then thats their choice to tolerate it for the pleasures they get from it.
I wont excuse wwe causing this amount of stress on people if true but lets be real, there is nothing stopping them from leaving. WWE isnt chaining them to the radiator.
For some of them perhaps, this was a dream job. The reality of 100-110 hour work weeks and (in the case of one writer) having a high WWE executive (not Vince) call you at a parents funeral for questions about the upcoming show has to be demoralizing.
You must have missed the 100 other ''Gail Kim thoughts on something WWE related'' threads. They're tedious at this point.
Though I don't understand why they are even thread worthy to begin with. Is a thread made every time a wrestler answers something on Twitter or says something in a podcast or interview? No, but if Gail Kim answers people make a thread about it every time.
I almost feel bad for her.
People are going to keep asking her questions about WWE because she always gives brutally honest answers. Most people want a chance to go back or get into the Hall of Fame. She already knows that won't happen.
I don't feel bad for her. If Gail truly didn't want to talk about WWE then she could politely decline to answer WWE related questions. As long as she continues to answer, people will continue to ask.
I always put the blame on Vince. not saying that their creative doesnt come up with shit ideas but if they have an amazing story for someone and Vince doesnt like it well who is to blame that its not on TV? that old out of touch idiot.
She's definitely bitter. She doesn't have to answer tweets from fans re: WWE if she doesn't want to. Answering a question in an interview is different. But picking out the tweets/questions about WWE that are sent to her on her Twitter account is 100% her choosing to (repeatedly) discuss the same thing over and over and over and over again.
It's...odd...and....troubling at this point. I hope she's okay mentally.
It's pretty ironic that people here are criticizing her for being bitter when you all spend copious amounts of time being bitter over the same damn product that you all waste countless hours watching just so you can come here and complain about it. Every single day.
Obsessiveness over wanting to "beat" someone and having an axe to grind isn't a mental disorder. Many competitive people have that trait. Michael Jordan would hold grudges for decades. Hell, Vince McMahon himself has it. Right now she is a producer at Impact and I'm sure she spends a lot of time trying to make the company she works at be better at the things the WWE isn't. Impact is currently regarded by many people who watch most promotions as having the best booked women's division in North America. I've no doubt at least some of that comes from her own contributions to the product.
It would be different if Gail were some crazy cat lady and sitting around at home and doing nothing but ranting on social media.
The fact of the matter is that Gail Kim has a job and is by all accounts a fully functional, working member of society. So she seems perfectly fine to me.
The fact is if I were running a smaller wrestling promotion in a WWE ruled environment, Gail Kim is exactly someone I'd want on my team. Someone with a burning desire, obsessiveness, and HUNGER to "beat" the best at its own game. It doesn't even matter if Impact is barely on the monitor. Without people who have that hunger to BE BETTER than the best, you won't go anywhere.
The problem with these things are no one actually knows for sure what or why Vince vetoes ideas.
I mean, I remember HHH laughing on tv about Austin's idea about "Sheriff Austin"
:austin3:hunter
If that was really Austin's idea(from what I remember it was) then that idea sucked lol.
On the flip side we also got to remember it took HBK, Russo, and HHH MONTHS ON MONTHS for him to get with their ideas for certain things that eventually came to fruition in late 97 finally.
With that said, it could be possible the writers are not "con-vincing" Vince that their idea is going to make him boatloads of money. It could also be Vince doesn't want another Russo like writer trying to take all the glory and success of the product either(which I believe is why he wouldn't let Heyman and Bischoff get any real power).
That is a good question someone should ask Vince. Why does he not take in the majority of his writers suggestions.
I can say she can be bias with her opinion sometimes. She praise Triple H and admire Charlotte, the women who consider as modern Moolah or Triple H with the shovel.
So, she always keep bragging about how bad WWE is and say her idea with Knockout is superior more than WWE.
I blame creative for a lot of the problems, but its really more specific than that because these writers are guided by the whims of a lunatic named Vince McMahon.
Lets look at what they have to do:
They have to write content to fill 5 hours of programming every week, try to build towards a future, have to write it all to satisfy Vince (which is near impossible), and then have to scramble to re-write shit the day of the show.
And then through it all, the fingers get pointed at them when the shows are bad.
fuck Gail Kim and her cringe Captain Ahab obsession with Vince
