Re: Will WWE counterprogram AEW?

They probably won't do anything at first, but they will if AEW is successful and gives them a reason to.

Yep. Daniel Bryan, master of the flippy style.

I'm actually looking forward to an alternative to WWE that is easily accessible, but Tuesday Night Dynamite sounds so fucking stupid!
Tbf to them all wrestling show names are pretty cheesy Impact, Total Nonstop Action, SmackDown, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Bash at the Beach lol

You must be new here. Every one who came from ROH or built their name off the indies was immediately labelled a vanilla midget who was the master of the flippy style. That's clearly what I'm referring to. I'm well aware that Bryan is a technical wrestler.

It's the same as people labelling every single member of the AEW roster that is unknown/an independent style a flippy style wrestler. Hope that makes my point more clear.

Perhaps if you want to make your point clear, don't use the same vague bullshit terms that others use to describe people?

Just a thought.

Gotcha. Wasn't immediately clear from your post, but I see what you were attempting to get at there.

Re: Will WWE counterprogram AEW?

Airing NXT on Tuesday nights would be amazing. I would love to see a 2 hour NXT show on a channel like USA or Sci-Fi. However, McMahon would have to stay away as far as possible.

Imagine bouncing between USA and TNT on Tuesday nights; Cody, Bucks, Jericho, Omega, and co vs the likes of Adam Cole, Johnny Wrestling, Dream, Riddle, Lee, etc and then have some old NXT guys move back to the brand .. this would be the closest thing to the Monday night raws ever

If/when guys like Mox, Hager, Punk show up on AEW ... it would be crazy fun as a fan to watch these two companies go head to head on the same night

People think because WWE is this great big empire with decades of history that everyone will just always watch it over the alternative, but nothing is set in stone. Something like what you're describing might backfire on WWE, if only slightly
This is a very good point. All people need to do is switch the channel. WWE doesn't have people's souls in a jar in Titan Towers. There's no guarantee that people won't just choose AEW over WWE.

I've always considered the possibility of counter-programming. It's right in their wheelhouse. Back when AEW was official, you had all three Shield members still around, so I thought "Hmm, a Shield member on each show..." This "wild card" thing could evolve (devolve?) into a Raw vs. SmackDown show. I've got a feeling Halftime Heat was a way to shop NXT with larger exposure.

It's also possible that they just won't bother and pretend AEW is a different genre to them. If AEW, hypothetically, beats them in the ratings, then they can just talk about what a global entity they are, and how when you add up the viewers for each hour of Raw and SmackDown (which is completely disingenuous), you get far more people watching it than AEW or whatever.
