Re: Will WWE counterprogram AEW?

First off 1.6 million is far too many viewers. The AAF, a new league in the biggest sport in the USA in football, got no more than a million viewers. AEW will be lucky to get 600,000, which would be a great number. No way AEW is matching Smackdown.

Normal people scare me.

Re: What impact will AEW have on WWE in the short and term term?

In terms of programming? Fuck all.

Rumours of WWE trying to hoover up all the best independent talent (shock!) may surface as a way of them tying everyone down so that AEW cannot freshen up their roster at certain times - but it may not be as easy as before with AEW being a genuine alternative with a huge TV deal.

If other rumours are to be true, Vince has fuck all idea about what goes on outside of WWE, so I doubt he cares. He knows he owns the biggest wrestling company that'll likely ever exist and if anything, he probably smirked if he ever hears that Turner is back in the wrasslin' business.

Re: What impact will AEW have on WWE in the short and term term?

Their roster is absolute shit right now so unless they sign some people here in the near future the ratings will probably be good for the first few shows because of the hype and then drop to Impact numbers within the 2nd month maybe 3rd.

Why are you saying that as if it's a hypothetical situation? It's officially 100% confirmed.
I found out it was legitimate shortly after the post.

People said the same thing about WCW when they said they were going head to head with WWF.

AEW could overtake WWE in ratings easily if they are on a big network ike TNT.

It didnt even take WCW that long to get a ratings win over WWF once Intro started. It was only a few months.

And once AEW starts getting more WWE stars, its going to be even bigger.

Ambrose is probably going there as Moxley. Revivia and Club are def. going there once their contract are up. Imagine of Punk signed with them.

Yes, Vince shall run reruns of the late 90's RAW episodes against it and call the show Attitude Era Wrestling.
